I.umberjills
Defeated 4-3
Roseburg's Lumberjills staged
a three-run rally in the seventh
inning, but still fell one run short
of gaining revenge against the
Kogue vaucy Dairy mains 01
Eagle Point.
Playing at Camp White Thurs
day, the local girls came out on
the short end of a 4-3 score.
Trailing 4-0 going into the final
inning the Jills teed off on Pat
Barron, ace Dairy Maid hurler,
who had relieved Doris Hickson
in the fifth.
The Roseburg learn met Miss
Barron with consecutive singles
bv Judv Zcinler and Joanne Dav-
pnnnrt in the seventh stanza.
Joan Hooter then came around on
a fast ball and drilled the sphere
into the deep right-center Held
corner for a four-bagger.
However, the rally was one
run short of overtaking the host
powerhouse.
Brcnda Solnicka handled the
pitching for the Lumberjills, giv
ing up seven hits to the Dairy
Maids.
The Jackson Wholesale spon
sored Lumberjills are currently
in Albany competing in the state
B tournament. The Roseburg con
tingent opened against Woodburn
in the weekend tourney. Other
teams competing for the title
will be host Albanv. Salem, Crcs-
well, ML Angel, Eugene and The
Miss Prints of Portland. The
tournament is a double elimina
tion affair, with the finals sched
uled for Sunday night.
