DEAR ABBY: There is a man in
our crowd who is loaded with mon
ey, but we have never seen him
without holes in the heels of his
socks. He has many pairs of socks,
but they ALL have holes In the
heels. He's not careless about the
rest of his attire. He wears tailor-
made suits, and expensive shirts,
but his holey socks spoil his ap
pearance. Should we write his wife
an anonymous leuer icuing hci
to do something about it?
EDS rKifciNua
DEAR FRIENDS: If Ed has
holes In ALL his socks, he knows
they're there end doesn't cere.
Leave his wife alone. She appar
ently doesn't jive a darn.
DEAR ABBY: I know you have
ihad many screwball people write
i to you, but 1 assure you I am not
one of them. 1 want to do somc
I thing to benefit mankind and I
! can't think of anything better than
I to give my lite lor scienuuc i-
' search. If you know of any institu
j tion that wants a live, healthy body
O!for a scientific experiment, please
let me know. I hope you will not
... nnmn hnrnllcf T have al-
I ready shocked enough people with
I my ambition. I am dead serious.
DEAR HUNTSVILLE: You may
be "deed" serious our you or.
still very much elive. I know of
NO Institution met would accept
' your generous otter.
We're out-of-towners, and I know
no one on either side, so I'll have
to go to the wedding alone. At the
reception, am I supposed to sit and
watch my husband dance with the
bridesmaid all evening? Also, the
night before the wedding there is
a rehearsal supper party. I am not
invited to that, but my husband
will escort the bridesmaid. One
of the other ushers is married, but
HIS wife is a bridesmaid, so she'll
be included in everything. Am I
supposed to forget that I'm mar
ried during the wedding festivities,
and let my husband run wild with
his bridesmaid?
SIZZLING
DEAR SIZZLING: Your hus
band's role es a husband takes pri
ority over that of an usher. And
his role as e MAN should justify
his asking the bride and groom
where his wife comes in.
CONFIDENTIAL TO HERMAN:
One Frenchman put It very well.
He said, "There is no such thing
as a 'pretty good' omelet".
Everybody haf a problem.
What's yours? For a personal re

DEAR ABBY: My husband is go
ing to be an usher at a wedding

maid, but where do I come in?

FOOD FOR
THOUGHT
Don't limit yourself to one or
two salad greens; try head lettuce,
leaf lettuce, chicory, endive, water
cress, parsley or romaine served
separately or in combinations.
When buying salad greens, be sure
to buy fresh greens. .As soon as
you get home, wash carefully,
drain and put in humidrawer. When
planning a tossed salad for dinner,
wash and prepare greens in the
morning, put into a damp tea towel
and return to refrigerator. When
you are ready for them in the eve
ning, toss on the dressing and your
salad is fresh and crisp to put on
the table.
HERE ARE A FEW TRICKS IN
SALAD MAKING: Tomatoes should
always be peeled before using
put into boiling water and skin
can be removed easily. , .Place
carrot shavings into a bowl of ice
and they curl. . .Never wash your
wooden salad bowl wipe with a
paper towel that has been damp
ened, then cover bowl and put it
away.
