Sha ron Olson Is Installed As Rainbow Girl's Advisor
The First Christian Church of
Roseburg was the setting for the
wedding of Miss Carol Avis Zane
and Richard James Hasmussen.
The marriage took place Satur
day. Aoril 27. at 10 a.m. The Rev.
James C. Smith officiating at the
impressive double ring ceremony
performed in the presence of rela
tives and friends.
The bride is the daughter of Mar
ion Zane, and the bridegroom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Rasmussen. Both families reside
in Roseburg.
For her wedding, the bride wore
a ballerina-length gown of white
Chantilly lace and an illusion veil
caught to a jeweled crown. She car
ried a white Bible marked with
white carnations.
Miss Dawn Vasterling was maid
of honor. She wore a royal blue
chiffon dress, designed with a full
skirt and scoop neckline. She car
ried a bouquet of pink carnations.
Raymond Munyon was best man.
Ushers were Eldon Zane, brother
of the bride, and Ronald Rasmus
sen, brother of the bridegroom.
Mrs. Rassmussen, mother of the
bridegroom, wore powder blue ny
lon with white accessories and a
white carnation corsage.
Mrs. Lee Sade, aunt of the bride,
wore navy blue with white acces
sories. A reception was held in the
church parlor. Pouring were Mrs
Randall Baumeardner and Mrs,
Judith Admire. Cutting the cake
were Mrs. Kenneth Neves and Mrs.
Iris Nicholson. Mrs. Wallace James
Jr. was in charge of the guest
book.
After a wedding trip to Eureka,
Calif., and the Trees of Mystery,
the newlyweds are at home to their
friends at 326 W. Bradford Drive.

Scene Of Lovely Wedding
Linda Marie Clemo, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clemo of Elk
ton, and Willis Raymond Smith,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jack
Smith of Drageston, Utah, were
married May 4 at 8 p.m. in a love
ly double ring ceremony at the
Elkton Christian Church. The Rev.
Bob Faggct of the First Assem
bly of God Church in Eugene of
ficatcd. Maid of honor was Darlene Cle
mo of Eugene, sister of the bride.
Charlotte Rigor was bridesmaid.
Rene Clemo, cousin of the bride,
was flower girl and Randy Ham
brick, another cousin, was ring
bearer.
Best man was Steve Clemo, the
bride's brother; Garland Labat of
Seattle. Washington was an usher.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father,.
The bride was attired in white
taffeta brocade. She wore the
bridegroom's mother's pearls and
carried a white orchid.
The maid of honor and brides
maid wore light green sheath
dresses with net overskirts and
net veils. They carried lilacs and
carnations with lavendar net ac
cents.
The candlelighters wore lilac
dresses and wore lilac flower wrist
lets. The church had been beautiful
ly decorates with lilacs and white
daisies by Mrs. Arley Marsh. Mrs.
Martin Suloff and Mrs. Agnes Hud
son made the corsages.
The wedding prelude and music
was played by Mrs. Bob Pagget of
Eugene. Paul Slaughter jf Eugene
sang "Because" and "The Twenty
Third Psalm."
A reception at the church fol
lowed the ceremony, with 150
guests attending. Mrs. Louise Rig
or had made the beautiful three-
tiered wedding cake and served
it at the reception; Mrs. Donald
Abraham served punch and Mrs.
Charles Clemo served coffee. The
bride and bridegroom opened their
many lovely wedding gifts during
the reception.
The couple left for a weekend
trip to the coast and now reside
in Eugene at 1376 W. 6th St. Apt. 3.
The bride's going away suit was
white wool. With it she wore a
yellow blouse, hat and gloves, and
white purse and slippers.

Mrs. Helen Hubbard of Prospect,
Lions Auxiliary director of district
36-E made her annual visitation
recently at a joint meeting of the
Roseburg, Sutherlin and Umpqua
Lions auxiliaries. This meeting was
held at the Bamboo House.
Mrs. Hubbard, who was accom
panied to Roseburg by Mrs. Marie
Dryer of Medford and Mrs. Gladys
Burrill of Prospect, gave a review
of plans for the forthcoming Lions
convention in Baker, and a report
of the spring board meeting held
at the Top of the Cosmos in Port
land. Loral members attending this
board meeting were Mrs. Willard
Buchanan and Mrs. Tom Pargcter.
Senior Luis Castillo, a foreign ex
change student under the Amer
ican Field Service Program at
Roseburg High School spoke to the
group alwut his native Chile.
Mrs. Watkins Is Hostess
The Ladies Bible Class of Oak
land Community Presbyterian
Church met Friday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. Sara Watkins.
Edith Dunn led the devotions and
read an article, "The Good Shep
herd." Mary Ie led the lesson.
A delicious dessert was served by
the hostess to Alta Howard, Mary
Minick, Pearl Brandner, Jessie
Davis. Lulu McMahon. Mrs. Lee,
Mrs. Dunn, Mildred Burpee, Grace

Fifth Birthday Observance
Gala Event For Tiller Lad
A whole year of anticipation was
climaxed recently when Michael
Bryant celebrated his fifth birth
day at a party at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert S.
Bryant, at the Tiller Ranger Sta
tion. Michael- and his family ar
rived in Tiller to make their home
soon after his fourth birthday, and
shortly thereafter, through attend
ing parties of other children ,in the
area, he learned it is an Ameri
can custom to have gala celebra
tions in recognition of the anni
versaries. Michael and his broth
er, Frank, were born in Germany
and the happy custom was new
to them.-
In honor of Michael, Mrs. Wal
ter W. Whitford made and decora
ted a lovely birthday cake, iced in
yellow and with pastel accents, in
cluding his name and five candles.
A lovely bouquet of spring flow
ers from the Whitford garden con
tributed to the decorations for the
event. Games were played and
prizes awarded to all participants.
After Michael opened his many
gifts, refreshments were served.
Guests included Danny and Doug
Clauson, Timmy Hale, Clark and
Paul Olson, and the honored guest's
older brother, Frank.
Michael was born in Augsburg,
Germany. His maternal grandpar
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Otto Egold
of Hanau, Germany. His birthday
was May 5.

the Sunday School Hall of the Win
ston Church of God recently, hon
oring the Rev. Calvin J. Rogers,
pastor of the church, who was cele
brating his birthday.
