.Mr. and Mrs. Earl Buwden, all ut
Glendalc, were married in a single
ring ceremony held Friday evening
May 3, at the Southern Baptist
Church in Glendale.
The bride was attended by her
aunt, Mrs. Bub Buttress u( Irving
tun, Calif., as matron of honor;
and by bridesmaids, Lunula Burd,
her cousin; and Hebecca Napier,
her sister. Odie Lee acted as best
man, while Joe Sturgis and Bobby
Napier, brother of the bride, were
ushers. The Rev. Noah Mills, pas
tor of the Phoenix Southern Bap
tist Church, officiated.
Linda Napier, a sister of the
bride, and Debby Bowdcn of Rose
burg, a niece of the bridegroom,
were candlclighters. Another of
the bride's sisters, Peggy Napier,
was the flower girl.
Mrs. Ben Rcmple played piano
prelude and then accompanied a
girl's trio, composed of Jo A n n
Crews, Patty Buchanan and Sally
Buchanan, for the song, "I Love
You Truly."
After the ceremony, the couple
knelt, and the trio again sang.
The church was beautifully decor
ated for the occasion with large
white baskets of apple blossoms.
Boughs of apple blossoms wcro
used on the piano, flanked by dou
ble crystal candle holders.
The bride, was exquisite in a
while floor-length wedding gown
detailed with a full skirt and bus
tle, and a bodice of Chantilly laco,
high empire waist, scalloped neck
line and brief scalloped sleeves.
Her shoulder length veil was
caught by a dainty crown of white
seed pearjs. Her accessories includ
ed opera-length gloves of Chantilly
lace matching her bodice, and a
diamond pendent necklace, a gift
from her parents.
She carried a bridal bouquet
fashioned of a huge yellow-throated
white orchid in a cluster of
white carnations.
The brido's attendants, candle
lighters, and the flower girl woro
street-length gowns of embossed
lavender taffeta, all of them de
signed and made by Fayo Pate of
Glendalc.
The matron ot honor wore a
Mu Chapter Entertained
Mrs. Lee Miller, incoming presi
dent of Mu Chapter, Beta Sigma
Phi, entertained members recent
ly at her lovely home.
The Ritual of Jewels ceremony
was conferred on Mrs. John Cun
ningham and Mrs. Dee Wilson. New
officers were installed.
Two interesting programs enti
tled, "The Printed Word and your
Life" and "Make an Art of Liv
ing." were presented by Mrs. Bill
Sims and Mrs. Lee Miller.
Refreshments were served by the
Luncheon Held
On Wednesday
Mrs. John William Unruh delight
ed the large number of Women of
St. George's Episcopal Church and
their guests by being the guest
speaker at the Wednesday lunch
eon meeting held at the parish hall.
Mrs. Unruh demonstrated making
a hat and showed a large number
of very beautiful original creations
she had made as a hobby. .
Mrs. Eldon Caley, president, gra
ciously presided over the luncheon.
A lovely gift was presented by the
women to Mrs. Caley in apprecia
tion of her year's work. Gift swere
presented to Ruth Bradley and her
daughter, Gaylen Brosi, for serv
ing the luncheons and so beautiful
ly decorating for each affair dur
ing the year and a beautiful orchid
corsage was presented to Mrs.
Frederick J. Porter.
An apron style show was enjoy
ed during the luncheon hour. The
aprons havt been made by the
members to be sold next fall at
the annual bazaar.
Bridge Luncheon
Lovely Affair

were used in decoration for the de
lightful luncheon given Wednesday j
when Mrs. Kenneth yuine enter
tained her bridge club.

Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Wharton re
ceived guest prizes. High score for
members was held by Mrs. Cassel.

Charming Luncheon Party
Given At Don Kruse Home
Mrs. H. B. Kruse of Rivcrsdale
entertained at a delicious 1 o'clock
luncheon on Friday at her home.
Guests of honor were Mrs. Walter
C. Bailey, who was observing her
birthday, and Mrs. Harry Burr,
who spent the weekend in the Rose
burg area visiting, friends and rela
tives. Mr. and Mrs. Burr have been
residing at Metolius and Culver

Arrangements of lilacs were used
about the rooms and on the tables
where the guests were seated.
Enjoying the luncheon and after
noon of visiting with Mrs. Kruse

meeting recently at Elkton. con
ducted the initiation degree for the

A special addenda was given by
the drill team for Pauline McNeil
who was chosen from Umpqua Ho
bekah lodge as a page at Grand
Lodge. She received a small gift
from the lodge.
There were 24 members and 23
visitors present. Potluck refresh
ments were served following the
meeting.
A BIRTHDAY party honoring Mike Miller on his first an
niversary, and his sister, Kennetfe, on her third birthday
anniversary, was given ot the home of rheir parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Miller. Fovors were given to the guests
and birthdoy gifts were presented to the guests of honor

tailored neckline, and with it a
matching headpiece which anchor
ed a lilniy lavender veil. She car
ried a bouquet of pink and white
carnations. Her white accessories
included opera-length gloves.
The other attendants wore full-
skirted dresses with sweetheart
necklines, princess waists and a
velveteen bow at the back. Their
veils and headpieces matched those
of the matron of honor, and their
bouquets were like hers, except
that they weru all white.
The candle lighters and the flow
er girl wore dresses similar in line
to those of tiie bridesmaids. The
flower girl carried a wicker basket
filled with white petals.
Members of tho girls' trio wore
matching lavender sheath dresses
and pink carnation corsages.
The mother of the bride wore
green suit with a white carnation
corsage, and the mother of the
bridegroom chose a black- and
white crepe dressmakc. suit with
white accessories and a white car
nation corsage.
After the ceremony, the couple
was honored at a roccption held at
the Masonic Temple, where they
cut a three-tiered while wedding
cake which was accented with ros
es in variegated tones of pink, sil
vcr leaves and. pink doves, Jt was
topped with bridal figurines on a
white filigree base.
The cake was Hanked by dou
blc crystal candle holdors and
white candles, placed on an ecru
luce-covered table.
A second serving table was cen
lei-ed witli an elaborate paper roso
bower decorated with wluto wed
ding bells.
The bride's flift table, featured
an unusual glass cone wedding bell
centerpiece.
Mrs. Hero Byra, aunt ot ine
bride, served the wedding cake.
Mrs. Maurice McDowell served
punch; Mrs. Alvin I.ong poured the
coffee. Mrs. Archie McElroy and
.Mrs. Paul Moody also served.
Jo Ann Crews had chargo of tho
guest book. Sue Long of Los An
geles and Sally Buchanan had
charge of the gift table.
As the couple was ready to leave,
the bride tossed her bouquet. It
was caught by Miss Long.
For her going-away dress the
bride chose a two piece beige
shealh dross and Jacket with hnr-
monizing accessories. Sho wore for
her corsage the orchid wmcn naa
centered her wedding bouquet.
After a brief honeymoon on the
coast tho newlyweds have returned
and are now at homo at 1216 Gcr
mond St. in Roscburg, where the
bridegroom is employed in a local
sawmill.
The bride, a resident of Glen
dalc since 1950, was graduated
from Glendalc High School in 1001.
She was formerly employed in the
office of the Grants Pass Clean
ers. Mr. Bowden lived in Glendale
from the time he entered school
and was graduated from the Glen
dale High School in 1062.

Lookingglass Benefit Said
To Be Successful Affair
Twelve tables were in play for
the benefit card party which the
Lookingglass Grange arranged for
the Cancer Fund Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Petheram and
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Findlay were
hosts for the delightful affair. Bob
Bartholomew of a local dairy do
nated ice cream to supplement the
refreshments.
