Set Nightly
A tap favorite of past Douglas
County Fairs will again be seen
by visitors of the 1962 edition of
the fair when the Ricketts' Revue
and Talent contest opens its
learch for performing- talent.
The show will be' held nightly
at 8 following the beauty contest
in the beauty-talent bowl adjacent
' to the exhibit building.
Ricketts' revue is in its 11th
year. It is open to all residents of
Douglas, Lane, Coos, Curry, Jack
ton or Josephine counties.

etts said applicants registered dur
ing the past several weeks at the
Ricketts Music Store in Roseburg.
Cash prizes of $400 and merchan
dise prizes of more than $2,000
will be given during the five-day
vent.
There is no age limit for the
contest for any kind of amateur
- act which can be classed as en
tertainment. Contestants will be
divided into six categories: sing
ers 16 and under; singers IT and
over; instrumentalists; groups;
and miscellaneous, No act may
have more than eight persons in
it.
Preliminary winners the first
three nights will receive $5 with
semifinal winners on the fourth
night to receive $10. All finalists
the last night will claim money.
Until the finals, all contestants
will compete only within their cat
egory. Each contestant will receive a
merchandise prize.
Master-of-ceremonies for the
event again this year will be Lyle
Eenner.

lake. The accordion trio is mode up of Bonnie (13), Vonnie (15) and Connie (17)

Floral Pieces Have
Special Entry Day
A special entry day for floral
exhibitors has been set at the Doug
las County Fair and Exposition.
All floral exhibits must be en
tered between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Aug. IS the first day of the fair.
Entrance will be gained through
the special floral gate next to
Umpqua Park to enter flowers.
Persons with bonafide floral ex
hibits will be granted free admis
sion to the Fairgrounds during en
try hours at the special gate.
Exhibitors entering at any other
gate must pay an admission charge.
Generally all animals and goods
entered in the fair must be in
place and ready for exhibition by
4 p.m. today.

nounced. A third more space has
been added this year and some
exua shade provided.
