Learns From Old Movies

Many of her ideas come from
old movies, or from old movie
magazines. This fall, Miss York
expanded her collection into knits
and synthetics, many of them a
natural for the ski set who al
ready account for one third of
her sales. One stocking cap knit
a 42-inen long tube, wrap the
excess around the throat as a
muffler.
Now she's planning her first
spring line in fabrics "the Ital
ians already have the straw busi
ness," she said practically.
She also has added a man to
Uie staff, Lawrence K. Brady,
president, to handle the business
side while she concentrates on
design and promotion.
"My advice to single girls is.
it's tough to be a lady manufac
turer, said Miss York. "Never
go into business without a man.
"One of these days I'm going
to write a book about my experi
ences. Naturally, it'll be called
'The Fur Flow'."
