Hucrest PTA recently held Its
last meeting of the year in the

Anniversary Is Observed
At Dinner For Harpoles
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shinkle of
r.iKion were nosts recently at their
home at an anniversary dinner in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. William
Harpole's 32nd anniversary. Other
dinner guests included Mr. and
Mrs. George Parrish, Miss Janet
iicison and Glen Vehrs. A bcauti-
luny decorated cake was served
for the occasion.
Reedsport Man Honored
At Elkton Dinner Party
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shinkle of
Elkton were nosts Sunday at a
birthday dinner in honor of Francis
Shinkle of Reedsport. Other dinner
guests were Mrs. Francis Shinkle,
Carl and Marie and Mr. and Mrs.
Keith Sheppard, Ron and Steve,
also of Reedsport.
Barbecue Given
To Fete Kansan
Mrs. Ethel Harms of Wichita,
Kan., was guest of honor Wednes
day evening at a barbecued chick
en dinner. Hostesses for the occa
sion were Mrs. Emmet Walters
and Mrs. Ray Young. The party
was held at the Young home in Gar
den Valley.

Johnnie E. Smith, Garden Val
ley, announce the engagement
of their daughter. Donna Jo,
to Kirk L. (Corkey) Hebard,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton
Hebard, Roseburg. The bride-
elect is a senior at Roseburg
High School. Mr. Hebard,
was graduated in 1960 from
Roseburg High School and has
completed a year at Boise
Junior College, Boise, Idaho.
He is now employed by the
Douglas County Road depart
ment. No date has been set

Couple
Married
The wedding of Michele Eileen
Inkley, daughter of Mrs. Alice M.
Inkley of Tillamook, and Charles
Eldon Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John R. Davis of Roseburg, took
place May 28. The 7:30 p.m. dou
ble ring ceremony was perform
ed at the Methodist Church in Tilla
mook, the Rev. David Smith, per
forming the marriage rites.
Wedding music was provided by
Vi Sandefer. Mrs. Susan Hawkins
was soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a gown of French
organdy, fashioned with three-quar
ter length sleeves, The Sabrina
neckline and sleeves were trimmed
with Venice lace to match the de
tailing on the front panel of the
skirt. The back of the skirt ended
in a chapel train. A garland of
lily of the valley held in place her
French bouflant veil. She carried
white orchid on a white Bible.
Attending the bride as matron
of honor was Mrs. S. C. Inkley Jr.
Miss Claudie Schelling of Eugene
and Miss Pam Davis, sister of the
bridegroom, were bridesmaids.
Miss Penny Davis was flower girl.
Tom Thurber was best man.
Ushers were Bill White and Jerry
Humpherys.
Following the reception, held at
the church after the ceremony, the
couple left for Portland where
they will reside. For traveling, the
bride wore a light beige Kimberly
knit with matching accessories.
The couple will reside at 1915
SW Park, Portland, while the
bridegroom attends Portland State
College. The bride is attending
Hollywood Beauty College.
Social Meet Is Enjoyed
The Golden Age Club met Mon
day evening at the Veterans Me
morial Hall, with 37 members and
two visitors enjoying the social
hour of games and cards.
Refreshments were served later
in the evening.

Canyonville Couple Feted
At Thursday Night Party
A going-away party was given
for Mr. and Mrs,. Merritt Crooker,
teachers of the Canyonville Sev
enth - day Adventist Elementary
School, by the Canyonville Adven
tist Elementary School, by the
Canyonville Adventist Church
members Thursday evening. The
party was held in the school audi
torium. A program as presented, with
Vern Iverson as master of cere
monies. Appearing on the program were
Sandra LeBlanc, Anita Hawkins,
Mrs. Dan Daniels, Gene Tomlin
son, Mrs. Ray Kennedy, Cindy
Folk, Steven Campbell and the Up
per Room Girls Glee Club. Mrs.
Silas Fox was piano accompanist
for the vocal numbers.
Gifts were received by the Crook
ers and their children, Sharon and
Marvin.
Refreshments were served, and
a Walt Disney film was shown to
conclude the evening program.
The Crookers, who have taught
at the school for the past four
years, will leave for their new
home near Battle Ground, Wash.,
after school closes. Both will teach
in the Meadow Glade Elementary
Church School.
Rose Club Holds
Wednesday Meet
The Rose Duplicate Bridge Club
held its weekly session Wednesday
at the Rose Hotel.
High scores were held by Mrs.
Walter Edmonds and Mrs. I. J.
Seiti; second, Mr. and Mrs. R. H.
Scott; third, Mrs. C. B. Wade and
Mrs. Walter Fisher; and fourth,
Mrs. R. P. Borden and Mrs. A.
B. Collier.

Enjoyable Event
Camp Fire and Blue Bird 'girls
of Rose School and their mothers
and fathers enjoyed a delightful
swimming party, followed by the
fathers treating the group. Elmer i
Giles, president of the Umpqua
Council of Camp Fire Girls, acted
as chairman.
Blue Bird leaders attending were
Alice Finlay, Sue Eddings, Mary
Perl and Mary Welkcr. Camp Fire
guardians present were Lillian
Moldcnhauer, Meryl Block, Jean
Roles, Mary Kent and Helen Sal
monson. There were 53 girls and
five adults enjoying the swim,
while a number of parents were
on hand observing the swimmers.
