Bit Of Kansas
On Seattle's Fair Grounds
SEATTLE (AP) Kansas eel-
ehrated its special dav at the
World's Fair Thursday, "and manv
weeks from now part of Kansas
may still be nourishing on the
grounds.
II Iwcan like this-
Back IS Kan., th.
62 members of the Ness City Band
decided they wanted to show their
prowess at the big fair.
They figured they needed $6,000,
so they went to work on all sorts
of odd jobs, including a drive
against prairie dogs for farmers
around their home town. Theyed at Woodland Park Zoo, with
rounded up $4,000 more than their
goal.
The bright-eyed Kansas kids
from a town of only 1,700 brought
along 3.000 miniature bags of Kan
sas wheat to distribute among
oilier fair visitors.
Wednesday night thev returned
to their dormitory and advised
their director, Bill Bolton, that
some of those little sacks of wheat
had been opened, and the grain
was planted in some of the many
flower beds which decorate the
fair grounds.
