MILWAUKEE (AP) -Warren Spahn, the Milwaukee Braves' southpaw wonder, packed away victory ball No. 314 today while setting his sights on another 20 game season. "I won't settle for anything less than 20," Spahn said after stop ping the Chicago Cubs on a five hitter, 4-2, Wednesday night for his fifth victory against four de feats this season. "I still think I get paid for win ning at least 20, the $75,000 a year left-hander said. "And I don't feel any differently now than I did last year when I won 21 although I don t consider 1961 a good season as I lost 13 games. I'm in good shape physically." Spahn, who won his first Na tional League game in 1946 at the age of 25, is shooting for his 13th 20-victory campaign, which would tie him with Christy Mathewson. Only Cy Young, with 16 such years, has more. Still the Braves' "stopper," Spahn snapped the club's four game losing streak in closing in on his next immediate objective. His 314 career victories are just three short of the number posted by Mike Welch, who ranks 10th among baseball's all-time Win ners . Although already the National League's winningest southpaw. Soahn's chief ambition is victory No. 327. It will enable him to surpass Eddie Plank and become the biggest left-handed winner in major league history. mosi ot me campbrounds sur rounding the lake are free of snow. except the trailer park which still has some drifts. This weekend also marks the opening of the high lakes and trib utary streams located in national forests along the Cascade crest. Coastal anglers will have all coast streams available to try their luck for the elusive trout. The Oregon State Game Commis sion reports that fhany of the lakes in the high Cascades will not be available because of snow, though legally open. Those at ex treme altitutes are still frozen over. Most of the popular lakes in cen tral Oregon will be available, but anglers are urged to check on road conditions, especially for those lakes near road's end. It is doubt ful that Sparks, Todd, and Three Lrecks lakes will be accessible. Big Lava, Elk, and Mud Lakes will be available via South Cen tury drive. North Century is not open. The road may be open into Little Uiltus. East and Paulina Lakes are open but campground space is limited with snowdrifts piled high in some areas. Angling should be fair to good at both East and Paulina. At Mud Lake anglers are re minded of the fly fishing rcgula tions only. Fishermen are restrict ed to the use of barbless hooks and must release all Atlantic salmon taken. All anglers are .urged to check the synopsis for bag limits and other regulations wherever they try their luck.
