Expo-Lodging Service
Gets Back In Business
SEATTLE (AP) Expo-Lodging
Service, which finds housing for
World's Fair visitors, was back in
business this week after a drastic
slow-down forced by a city ordi
nance intended to block evictions
of long-time tenants from hotels
and apnrtment houses.
Many apartment houses had
evicted regular tenants and con
verted to hotel-type operation.
'This is strictly a matter be
tween the city and each individual
hotel, apartment, motel owner or
operator," said Willis Camp, an
assistant vice president oi ine
Fair.
"It is not for Expo-lodging to
concern itself with problems be
tween each owner-operator and
the Citv of Seatt e."
Earlier Camp had said the ord
inance would force about 65 per
cent of the hotels to cut back the
number of rooms available for
visitors and necessitate the relO'
cation of thousands of Fair arriv
als whose reservations would be
cancelled.
A committee has been set up by
the city to license housmg faciu
ties under the new ordinance.
