Feb. 15, on the SS Canberra, on a world cruise. Jim Gregg of Roseburg has been chosen as chaplain at the Milo Academy for the second semester. Jim Gregg was also selected as president of the Boys' Club and Jerry Snaar as its parliamentarian. Mrs. Mary Rutherford and Miss Erma Albertson of the field serv ice staff of the state library, Sa lem, and Miss Mary Phillips, who is on leave from Multnomah Coun ty Library to make a survey of libraries of Oregon, spent Tuesday and Wednesday visiting the Doug las County Library and Glendale, Canyonville, Myrtle Creek and Sulherlin branches. They had vis ited Reedsport Library before com ing here. Also on this trip south they visited Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lake County librari es. They were accompanied on vis its to county branches here by Miss Carol Trimble, Douglas Coun ty Librarian. Mrs. O. J. Monger, Senior High School Librarian, attended the third annual Portland State Col lege Lectureship dedicated to the improvement of instruction in sec ondary schools. Dr. Robert S. Gil christ, superintendent of schools. University City, Mo. was guest speaker. Following the lecture Mrs. Monger attended an executive board meeting of the Oregon As sociation of School Librarians. Fri day afternoon, Mrs. Monger, who is chairman of the scholarship and recruitment committee for the Ore gon Library Association, met with her committee at the University of Oregon Library. Perry Morrison, president, consulted with the group. Riversdale Club Slates Card Party Saturday The Riversdale Grange Home Economics Club announces a pub lic card party to he held at the Grange hall on Garden Valley Road Saturday at 8 p.m. Prizes will be awarded and re freshments will be served. These plans were announced when the ladies of the Home Eco nomics Club met for their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Glen Richardson. A 12:30 p.m. Potluck preceded the business meeting. A Valentine motif was used on the serving table. Smorgasbord Set The group also announced that the annual Riversdale Grange smorgasbord will be on Sunday, March 11, reports Beverly Chris tian, Riversdale correspondent. OAKLAND MEET SET ! JERRY DeMUTH The Sutherlin Board of Educa tion at its meeting this week re ceived accounts payable including a billing from the Pacific Power and Light Co. for installation of the power line into the new junior high school, thus completing the program to be included in the master metering plan. . A decision was finally made for the board committee to seek an I audience with the city council at its March meeting. A representative from the Min neapolis-Honeywell Corp. explain ed to the board a contract for servicing heating controls in the school buildings. The service con tract covers general maintenance emergency service and replace ment of controls. The information will include a general picture of the aims and goali of mathematics in the Rose-1 burg school system from the first grade through the twelfth grade, with most emphasis being put on the high school mathemat ics curriculum.
