Riddle Fire Pumps
Reverse Procedure
The Riddle Volunteer Fire Dep-
partment performed a service in
reverse order recently when it
pumped water out of the Studio
Theatre building on Main St., ac
cording to Erma Best, Riddle cor
respondent. Dick Harper discovered the in
undation when he entered the the
ater to check on aome electrical
household appliances he bad atored
there. Eire Chief Ivan Pus esti
mated the water covering the floor
at two feet or more, apparently
resulting from ground see pace fol
lowing the excessive rainfall. He
reported the appliances as heavily
damaged as well as the chairs in
the front half of the house. The
theater had not been operating for
some time.
Yule Decorations Up
As is their annual custom, mem
bers of the fire department put up
the Christmas decorations on Main
SI. Sunday.
The department feels fortunate
in having only two calls during
the aftermath of the big snow on
Thanksgiving Day. One was to
stand by on Millie St. to warn traf
fic until an arcing power line was
removed, and the second call came
the same day when Clinton Hed
berg's car caught fire while parked
by his warehouse, burning out the
wiring.
