Wes Larson of Drew has painted a mural depicting the Oregon Caves above the door in the en tryway of the home of Mr. and Mr. Ernest Dahack. The enclos ure features terraced flower beds under the plasite roof and large window areas. Dahack used rock apecimens collected on Nevada trip for pillar between the win dows and around the door under the painting. Richard Tibbets spent the Thanksgiving vacation with his parent; Mr. and Mr. Earl Tib bet and family. He waa home from Southern Oregon College In Ashland. Jack Hogan, Ray B. Wettport, Minn., while in that state. Portland Trip Mad Mrs. Louis Putman spent tho Thanksgiving holiday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ren Mann, in Port land. Dr. and Mrs. Max Post and fam ily took advantage of the long Thanksgiving holiday to visit at the borne of Mrs. Post's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Reitan, Hood River, and with Dr. Post' par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Kurk, of The Dalles. Dr. Post attended the Roseburg-Beaverton football game in Portland. Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rapp and family spent Thanksgiving Day in Portland at the home of the lat ter's brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Irving Damitz, and fam ily. They were joined there by oth er relatives. On Friday the Rapps went on to Seattle where they visit ed at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Le land Cheever and Mark and Bryan. They were joined there by Mrs. Catherine Cheever and Milton Cheever of Elkton. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ellison and family of Springfield were Sunday visitors it the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. Culver and family. Mrs. Belle Cook spent five days recently visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dorral Daubenspeck in Eugene. Out-ofTownars Visit Mr. and Mrs. Gene Culver and daughter, Kim, of Klamath Fails arrived in Sutherlin on Wednesday to spend the long holiday weekend at the nome oi culver parents, Mr. and Mr. Jack Culver. They also visited at the home of Mr. and Mra. Jack C. Culver and fam ily. Mrs. Henry Pavlin of Glendale, mother of Mrs. Gene Culver, joined them in Sutherlin. A recent Suthcrlin visitor was Mrs. A. D. Miller of Warm Springs. Ore. She visited at the home of her mother, Mr. George Green, and with friends. Mrs. Miller was accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Murry and son, Jeffrey, of Madras, who spent the weekend at the home of the Rev. and Mr. John L. Welch and family. Mr. and Mrs. Vera Holgate nd son, Gordon, reported fine weath er Thanksgiving Day in Ashland at the home ot tneir son, uoyu Holgate and family. They were much surprised when they ran into the snowstorm on their way home. Bob and Jo Thomas recently re turned from a hunting trip spent at Tule Lake near Klamath Fall. Thanksgiving Day guests at the home of Mr. Claude Kesner and son, Mike, were Mike' grandmoth er, Mr. C. G. Kesner of Rose burg, and Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Kesner. The occasion was also a celebration of Mike's birthday. Former Teacher Visited The Thanksgiving holiday was spent in Longview, Wash., by Mr. and Mr. Charles Sikstrom and family, at the home of Mrs. Sik Strom's parents, Mr. and Mr. A. E. Ridling. On Friday they vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moss and family in Troutdale. Friday evening Sikstrom and Mots at tended the Roseburg-Beaverton game. Frank Moss is a former Sutherlin teacher. The Sikstroms also visted friends in Milwaukee before returning to Sutherlin. Mr. Bernard Bever is home again after undergoing surgery at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene. Mrs. Archie McCrae has taken over the duties of the Jollytime Kindergarden until Mrs. Bever is able to return to her dutiea there. Mr. and Mrs. Vera Holgate and sea, Gordon, were in Portland Monday. They were joined there by another son, Lloyd, of Ashland, Ore. Riversdale Folks Home After Trip By BEVERLY CHRISTIAN Mr. and Mrs. Clyde N. Downing returned to Riversdale Saturday from a week' vacation trip to San Francisco, Calif., where they spent Thanksgiving with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Downing, and three chil dren. Reunion Attended Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hebard and family and Mrs. Hebard's par ents, Mr. nd Mrs. Harry Burton of Scoltsburg, went to Seattle to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Talley and family. Mrs. Talley is a sis ter of Mrs. Hebard. Also attending the family reunion were Robert Burton and family of Monument. Burton is a brother of Mrs. Talley and Mrs. Hebard. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ford and family of Portland spent Thanks giving visiting the former's brother-in-law and suiter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cardiff. Going to Portland for the state championship football game were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Stark and three children. They were guests of the former' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Tro zelle and family. The children en joyed ice skating at the Memorial Coliseum. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hand and two sons went to Portland to spend Thanksgiving with the for mer's mother, Mrs. Pearl Hand. Miss Saar Shows Slides At Association Meeting The annual meeting of the Doug las County Empire Builders As sociation was held at the Douglas County courthouse this month with Barbara Saar as guest speaker.
