Highway 42 Bonds Sold SALEM (AP) - The Oregon Highway Commission received bids today for $20 million worth of bonds for three projects. The commission said it was pleased with them. The low bid for $12 million of bonds for construction of the Co lumbia River Bridge at Astoria was 3.334 per cent interest. This means the state would pay $7,401, 600 in interest over 30 years. This bid was submitted by a syndicate including the First Na tional Bank of Oregon. The other bond issue is for $8 million, split evenly between the Coos Bay-Roseburg Highway and the north end of The Dalles-California Highway. This bid, at 2.67936 per cent in terest, was submitted by First Na tional Bank of Chicago, Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York, and associates. The interest on these 10-year bonds would be $1,179,040. The legislature authorized $24 million worth of bonds for the As toria bridge, but the commission is selling only half of them now. Air Squadron Plans Exercise Officers and enlisted men of the Emerald Empire's 9610th Air Re serve Recovery Squadron are plan ning the first operations exercise in the unit's brief five-month his tory. The operation will take place Dec. 10. At that time a civilian light plane "standing in" for a military craft theoretically "in trouble" will touch down at Mahlon Sweet Field north of Eugene. This will set the squadron members in motion for a three-hour period, performing the same type of duties they would carry out in an actual emergency situation. They'll "decontaminate" the plane assuming that it has been subjected to nuclear radiation provide emergency first aid and medical services for the "injured" crew and go through the motions of servicing and refueling the plant.
