"Why," the Indian replied, "I use the telephone. What do you do?" Proposal Urges Amendment To Bonneville Act VANCOUVER. Wash. (AP) A proposal that the Bonneville Art be amended. If necessary, to per mit the Bonneville Power Ad ministration to purchase power from Canadian as well as United States public agencies was ap proved Thursday by the North west Public Power Association's board of trustees. It was one of several resolu tions adopted by the board of trustees near the close of a two day meeting. BfA presently does not have the authority to pur chase power. It can acquire pow er to firm up temporary power only when an exchange arrange ment can be worked out. In other resolutions, the NPPA trustees: Commended British Columbia Premier W. A. C. Bennett and the province for taking over the privately owned B. C. Electric Co. Praised Congress for approving the Columbia Basin treaty with Canada. Reaffirmed approval of federal construction of a power intertie between the Northwest and the Missouri Basin with an intercon nection in Southern Idaho. Urged installation - of federal power generators at the Hanford Atomic Works and proposed legis lation 'o permit sale of Hanford steam to public agencies. Urged approval for BPA to dis tribute power to consumers in Southern Idaho and Montana; And endorsed several proposed dams, with a stipulation on ap proval of the Nez Perce Dam that fishery problems were to be worked out.
