They are gone, now, but Lambert

Wadsworth appeared as a speak

Wilderness Bill Is Not
Land Grab Says Church
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) Sen
Frank Church, D-ldaho, savs the
wilderness bill is not a federal
land grab as it has been widely
represented by opponents.
' Church, a supporter of the
IfRislation, spoke recently at the
Idaho Experiment Station Confer
ence at the University of Idaho.
He said the bill would affect
only land already owned by the
federal government and designat
ed as primtive areas.
"It won t reduce by a single
tree the timber cut in our forests,
and it won't red-ace by a single
: cow our grazing programs," he
said. ,
He said the bill awaiting House
I action would give Congress the
I riaht of review and a veto power
lover administrative decisions on
wilderness areas.
He said the Senate passed the
measure 78 8 after nearly five
years of study, and 23 of 26 west
ern senators were among those
who approved it.
