bus stop law which requires them
to stop only when red lights at the
front and rear of the bus are

Even though the brake liuhts at
the bottom of the hack ol the bus
are on. the Department of Molor
Vehicles points out that there is
no need for drivers to stop or re
main slopped unless the lights alup
the bus are Hashing.
The old law required motorists
to stop whenever a bus was stop
ped to load or unload children. Now
Ihe law gives school bus drivers
the responsibility of alerting mo
torists by Hashing the red liyhis
whenever he believes safetv re
quires other drivers to stop for the
bus.
The department said the new law
allows tor a heller flow of traffic
while slill providing for the chil
dren s safely.
