Annual Banquet Is
The annual adult fall banquet,
field Friday evening at Die Kirst
Baptist Church attended by
about SO persons. The theme,
"Green Lake," was carried out in
decorations and program. Simulat
ed green lakes adorned each talile
and were surrounded by decora
tions of Douglas fir.
Following the dinner, I ydia
Paulson presented two humorous
readings. Airs. Koy llaniord. choir
director and organist, spoke of
her unprcssiona of (Ireen Lake,
where she attended a week ftl mu
sic workshop conferences this pat
summer. Green Lake, Wis., is the
National American Baptist Assem
bly Grounds.

Miss Lawana Edes Married
At Vancouver Church Rites
Announcement has been made at
Sandy, Ore., of the marriage of
Miss Lawana Ldes, daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. Harold Edes of San
dy and granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. George Files of Yonralla,
and Granville Stuart of Gresham.
The wedding took place in the
First Presbyterian Church in Van
couver. Wash., with the immedi
ate family of the bride present.
The bride, given in marriage ny
her father, wore a street-length
white brocaded sheath dress, with
while accessories and a large
white orchid.
Miss Carolyn Fdes, sister of the
bride from Corvallis, was tha only
attendant. She wore a pale blue
sheath dress and an orchid cor
sage. Following the ceremony, a wed
ding dinner was served at a popu
lar restaurant in Vancouver. Mr.
and Mrs. Stuart drove down to
Yonralla for a short visit with the
bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
George F.des, alter which they
drove to the coast for a short hon
eymoon. Tha bride is a graduate from
Sandy High School and is now
teller at the Gresham bank. The

Glendale Chapter
Plans For School
The Glendale Chapter of the
K astern Star met Tuesday evening
at the Masonic Temple.
A school of instruction will be
held at the Temple Wednesday
evening. Nov. 1. with Airs. Flor
ence Jaeger of Condon, associate
grand matron, in charge. A pot
luck supper at 6:30 p m. will pre
cede the meeting. All members of
the chapter are invited to be pres
ent. Members are invited to attend
the Josephine Chapter Friendship
Night meeting to be held at the
Grants Pass Masonic Temple Mon
day night. Nov. 6. Anyone wishing
transportation with others who are
planning to attend may contact
either Martin Brooks or Mrs, J'ete
Smith.
The chapter room was decorated
with a huge basket of autumn
leaves surrounded by iare and
small gourds.
After the meeting, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Jacques of Grants Vass
and Mrs. Koy Williamson of Glen
dale served refreshments.

orated with arrangements of au
tumn leaves, Halloween figurines
of witches and cats, lighted jack-o-lanters
and confetti in Halloween

PTA Teas Given

The West PTA of Suthcrlin spon i
sored a mother's tea for all muth-i
ers of the West School children in
the multi purpose room. The moth-!
er'a tea was divided into two dif
ferent groups and was held on two i
different days.
The first tea was held for all of
the mothers of the fourth, fifth and!
sixth grades at one o'clock Wed-1
nesday. The second, for all of
mothers of the first, second, and:
third grades, took place Thursday !
nancy Laswell was leader of
committee. The committee expand
ed the function of the tea this year
to include mothers suhstituting in
the school rooms for the period of
the tea. These mothers. Betty Ouel
lette. Ruby Shorey, Scott Handy.

mothers to meet and talk with

This exhibit of numerous Christ !
mas ideas and the tea is being
sponsored without charge. All per
sons in the area interested are
most cordially invited to enjoy the
occasion. All types of holiday gifts,
holiday ideas and foods as well
as colorful decorations will be on
display the two days. There will
be nothing for sale, as the women
of the Presbyterian Church are
taking this way of sharing their
holiday season with all the people
of the area interested. A special
room is being arranged for chil
dren attending.

Celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Perkins
entertained at a dinner at their
home in Winston Sunday to honor
the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John H. Ohl, who are here visiting
from fiureka, Calif. The Ohls cele
brated their 54th wedding anni
versary wilh several friends and
members of the family.
The attractively appointed table
was centered by a beautilully dec
orated cake made by Mrs. Perkins
for the occasion. Visiting was en
joyed and pictures were taken dur
ing the afternoon.
