Dillard PTA Holds 1
October Meeting
Mrs. Jick Nelson, president, con
ducted tht DUIard PTA meeting
Monday evening, trading the mem
bers in the flag salute and prayer.
She explained the symbolism of
the I nited Nation's Flag, a copy
of which was on ditplay in com
morshon o( the V. N. birthday on'
Oct. 24.
Drive On
Mis. Ralph Peterson, member
hip chairman, gave an account of
the membership drive being held
during the month of October. A
contest i being held among the
rooms, the one receiving the most '
members at the close of the con-1
test will be awarded i prize.
Ways and Means Committee
Chairman Mrs. Louis Lorem elab
orated on the coming Halloween
Carnival which will be held Oct.
27 at tht school between the hours :
of S 30 and 8:30 p.m.
Mrs. Jim Richey, hospitality
chairman, announced that during
the month of November, room
rount fathers attending meetings
would count double during the one
month only.
Projects Approved
The budget for 1961-M was pre
sented and accepted. The projects
to furnish a microscope and ic-1
cessories for the school and a schol-!
arship to an eligible scholar, were
approved.
The room rount award was pre-'
aented to Vincent Evans' sixth
grade room.
Mary Ellen Krebs wai elected to
the office of second vice president
to fill the vacancy created due to j
the resignation of Nancy Linna.
Arthur Selby, Civil Defense Di
rector, was the guest speaker, em- j
phasixing the need of "Prepared-,
ness in School and Home," which j
was his topic. He also distributed
pamphlets regarding the new type j
of fallout shelters. I
Mrs. Nelson invited parents to
attend classes during the week of
Nov. S to Nov. 11, which has been
designated as American Education
al Week.
The next regular meeting will be
held Nov. 20 at t p m. in the Dil
lard Elementary School Cafetor
