Consumers here in the Pacific
Northwest will find an abundance
of fresh fish on the market this
week. Silver aalmon ia in good
supply and will be featured at at
tractive prices along with fillet of
sole and red mapper. In seafood.
oysters are plentiful now. and
Dungenesi eraba are available,
also.
Fryeri are an excellent buy
again this week, and while turkey
price! are expected to be slightly
higher in coming weeks, they will
continue to be a good value.
For beef and lamb, the price
level remains generally ateadv
this week. Forequarter cuts of
beef, particularly from the chuck
are still tha best value for con
sumers. Fresh pork prices are
showing a decline and you can
expect to se some pork cuts fea
tured in th stores this week and
next.
Washington potatoes are in
heavy supply at low prices along
with local cauliflower, cabbage
nd winter squash. Carrots and
spinach are other good buys in
vegetables, while lettuce may
fluctuate aince the supplies from
California have gone up in price.
Artichokes top the list of mod
erately priced vegetables with in-,
creased production in the growing
districts of Santa Cruz and Cas-
troville in California. The supply
of artichokea from this area is
expected to remain heavy for
several months.
Beeta, broccoli and Brussels
sprouta are in the moderate price
range, also, as are eggplant, corn
and dry onions. Cucumbers, rid
ishes, green onions and tomatoes
are all coming from out of state
sources now. and are generally
moderate buys.
Sweet potatoes have shown a
slight decrease in price with heav
ier quantities coming to market.
In most stores you will find turn
ips, parsnips and rutabigas are in
the moderate group, also.
I Tokay and Emperor grapes are
very reasonably priced, with other
! varieties, particularly Muscats
j and Ribiera commanding higher
I prices. Jonathans are the best
I choice this month for an all
purpose apple and they are com
paratively low in price for the
fancy grade. Red and golden De
licious apples are running slightly
higher. Bananas are priced rea
' sonably. also.
Colorful cranberries and pome
granites are moderately priced
along with grapefruit, orange! and
lemons. Fuerte avocados from
California are in light supply and
are moderate in price, however,
you may se the large-seeded
Booth variety of avocado! from
Florida at lower prices,

For New York Visit

I'rho Kekkonen of Finland ar
rived here from Washington
aboard a military plane today for
a four-day New York visit, during
which he will address the V.ii.

later today and to attend a re
ception sponsored by the American-Scandinavian
Foundation.
He will make his U.N. apeech
Thursday afternoon.
