Consumers To Find
Concord Grapes On
Market This Week

Among fall fruits on the market
this week, consumers in the Pacific
Northwest will iind regular Con
cord grapes are available for mak

harvested in increasing volume
now, and a good supply of excel

While watermelons are quite
reasonably priced, other melons
are generally in the medium price
range this weeK wiui prices vot
ing for cantaloupes, casbas, honey
dews and Persians.
Oranges, nectarines, pineapples
and limes are other moderately
priced fruits. Consumers will find
avocados, strawberries and grape
fruit are in light supply and rela
tively high in price.
Among the wide array of fresh
vegetables on the market now,
potatoes, carrots and cauliflower
are excellent values. Corn prices
continue to be attractive, although
harvesting is about over. Bunch
beets, spinach and squash of all
types are very reasonably priced.
Local celery, cucumbers, lettuce
and other salad items, including
radishes and green onions, are of
good quality, and prices are low.
Tomatoes, however, are in the
moderate price range.
With supplies much shorter this
week, green beans have shown an
increase in price this week, put
ting them in the moderate-buy
group along with broccoli, egg
plant, mushrooms and dry onions.
You will find medium size onions
are lower in price than the large
onions which are preferred for
slicing purposes.

for a slight decline in coming
weeks.
. This is the last week to enjoy
fresh halibut this season, and it is
moderately priced. There is a
good supply of cod, sole and red
snapper available as well as ocean
smealt for fish entrees. In sea
food, Pacific oysters are on the
plentiful list.

The call to active duty went out
in two National Guard divisions

and the 49th Armored of Texas
and to 249 reserve and guard
support units.
