Sutherlin Woman Travels
To Washington For Reunion

Mri. Elizabeth Snyder, mother
of Mm. Don Barlow, has returned
to her home in Sutherlin after
spending a week at her former
home in Longview, Wash., where
she visited old friends and neigh
bors. A highlight of her visit was
attending the 30th reunion of the
Mt. Solo Ladies' Club, of which
she was a member.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barnes, for
mer Sutherlin residents now living
in Central Point, were visitors at
the R. E. Abeene home recently.
Dale Cannon. Drincioal of the
West Side School, drove to Culver
one day recently to bring Mrs.
Cannon and three sons home. He
had previously taken them to Cul
ver to visit at the home of friends,
Mr. and Mrs. John Schonneker.
Mrs. Cannon' mother, Mrs. Olive
Brown, of Cottage Grove accom
oanied him on both trips.
Mrs. Anker Kelgard of Long
Beach, Calif., who was called here
by the serious illness of her broth
er. Bay Hansen, is staying with
Mr. and Mrs. Art Hansen at Wil
bur. Ray Hansen underwent ma
jor surgery in Eugene the first of
the week.

area returned recently from a va
cation trip during which they visit
ed points of interest in Idaho,
Montana, Wyoming and Washing
ton. They visited Ghost Town at
Caldwell, Idaho, the Jcton Moun
tains, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone
Park and Mammoth Hot Springs
near Bozeman, Mont., and saw the
scene of the earthquake of 1959,
They also visited Coeur d' Alene
Lake in Idaho and came home
through Yakima, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Donoho of
the Upper Calapooia drove to
Grants Pass to visit at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stacy.
Mrs. Donoho and Mrs. Stacy are
sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. George Warren
and four children returned home
to Sutherlin recently after vaca
tioning and camping at Siltcoos
Outlet.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Woollett and
son of Blue River were here to
attend the Parazoo funeral. Both
Henry (Bud) and Rodney were em
ployed by Mr. Woollett,
Mrs. G. L. (Scotty) Sinclair
has had as her houseguest her sis
ter, Mrs. Monte Simpson of De
troit, Mich.
Yoncalla WSCS To Hold
Barbecue On Wednesday
A "Chuck Wagon" barbecue is
being sponsored by the Women's
Society of Christian Service of the
Yoncalla Methodist Church. The
barbecue will be held on the lawn
of the church Wednesday from 6
to 8 p.m.
Men of the church will cook the
hamburgers.

at the Josephine County Fair re
cently. Mrs. Mill received three red and
two white ribbons for crocheted
and knitted articles; Miss Georgia

and a white ribbon for drift-wood
articles.

Move To California
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Phillips and
daughters have moved to Salinas,
Calif.
Mrs. Virginia Baker of Berkeley,
Calif., visited for several days re
cently with her step father and
mother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Kemp, in Glendaie. She drove up
to get her son, Robert, who had
been visiting his grandparents
since late in July. Mrs. Baker is
editor and publisher of the West
ern Dairy Foods Review of San
Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Corthel of
Glendaie are the parents of a 6
pound 1414 ounce daughter born
at the Josephine General Hospital
in Grants Pass, Aug. 15.
Miss Jane Rust, sister of Mrs.
Gerald Brady of Azalea and a for
mer Azlea resident, is touring Eur
ope. She flew from New York City
and visited England, then went on
to Copenhagen, Denmark. Miss
Rust is a substitute teacher in
the Portland School System and
an evening telephone operator at
the Medical School Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coate and
daughter of Gold Beach visited in
Glendaie recently with Mr. and
Mrs. George Mill and their daugh
ter.

Calkins Rd., are the parents of a
son. David Ie, horn Aug. 13, and
weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces. The
baby was born at the licit home.
Mr. and Mrs. Willar E. Courtney
have arrived here from Salem to
take over management of the
Nobo Trailer Court, 2071 NE Ste
phens. The court is owned by Chet
Chandler of Salem.
Mrs. Lewemmo S. Todd of Can
ton, Ohio, in presently visiting in
Roseburg with her niece, Mrs.
Richard Crenshaw, and her neph
ew. Dr. D. R. Gihhs, and. their
families. Mss. Todd is a former
Roseburg resident.

Spielmen are the parents of a
pound 14 ounce son, Joseph Fred
erick, Dorn Aug. 14 at Peru, lnd.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.

John Cornilsen, all of Roseburg.
Spielman and his wife, the former
Carolyn Cornilsen, are living in
Peru while he is stationed at Bun
der Hill AKB. The senior Spiel-
mans left Saturday for Peru to see
the new baby and to pick up their
daughter, Trudt, who has been vis
iting with her brother and sister-in-law.
They stopped in Edgar,
Neb., to see Mrs. Spielman s moth
er, Mrs. Pearl Goesch.
Infant Drowns In Bath
ALBANY (AP) A 10-month
old girl drowned Sunday while
being given a bath.
Dr. John Guite, Linn County
medical examiner, said Mrs. lur
tis Fredericksen was bathing her
daughter Shirley, stepped away
for a moment, and when she re
turned the infant was under water.
Resuscitation efforts, first by
the father and later by the fire
department, failed.

Has Good Trip

Mrs. Charles Stackhouse of Glen
daie returned recently from a two
week trip to the Hawaiian Islands
where she visited with her son,
S.Sgt. James Stackhouse, and his
wife and four dauehters. Sat.
Stackhouse, who has been in the
U. S. Air Porce for 14V4 years, is
stationed at Hickam Air Force
Base. He sent his mother round
trip tickets and she flew to Ha
waii by Overseas Airlines. Return
ing home, she took a jet from
Oakland to Mcdford where her
husband met her.

pital recently for medical treat
ment. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coolev of Se-
attle, Wash., came down to Glen
daie recently to pick up their two
daughters, who had spent a couple
of weeks visiting at the home of
their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
