Sir Richard appeared to be startled, and not entirely pleased by the proposed rummage sale in his stately home, Thinvbleby Hall, in Yorkshire. "I shall certainly not help my wife take the money," Sir Rich ard told reporters. "In fact I shall make sure that I'm not at home for the sale." The sale will take place next Wednesday. Lady Barwick announced her sale in a country newspaper. "Lady Barwick has for dispos al," the advertisement read, "a collection of model clothes, shoes, hats and handbags, which will he on show and for sale at Thimble by Hall." Told about the advertisement, Sir Richard said, "1 do not say my wife is wrong to do this. But I would prefer not to well, get involved. The whole idea is rather strange." During her starlet 'days. Lady Barwick appeared in movies with James Mason and Eric Portman. In preparation for next week's sale, her ladyship has draped her clothes around Sir Richard's oak panelled billiards room. Lady Barwick's vital statistics: 34-22-34. Some of the large and hearty countrywomen in the farm coun try near her stately home may find the dresses small for their more robust figures. I I C CILm To Be HeirOf GREAT FALLSr Mont. (AP)-A photograph 19 years old plus a diary have led a World War 11 American fighter pilot to believe he is the airman named in the will of a German ace. Maj. Norman L. Widen of Minneapolis says he may be the P38 pilot shot down by German pilot Anton Jlafner over Tunis, North Africa, in 1942. The Amer ican was captured. Listed In Will Before Halncr died, he listed the unnamed American in his will and a few details of the search were revealed by Hafner's sur vivors as they began the almost hopeless search. Widen now commands a fighter branch of the 29th Air Division at Malstrom Air Force Base at Great Falls. tapt. James B. McClary, a fel low officer of Widen's, spotted a picture of the captured American pilot sought by the Hafners in the Feeding Mistake In Hospital Takes Lives Of Infants REGINA, Sask. (AP) Two babies are dead and four are re ported in serious condition after a mix-up in their feeding formula at the Grey Nuns Hospital nur sery. Police Chief A..G. Cookson said one baby died Saturday. The name was not released. Cynthia Jody Beck, 6-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Beck of Re gina, died Friday night. Dr. J. A. Dupont, medical su perintendent of the hospital, said the babies became ill after being given a formula which contained boracic acid solution instead of distilled water. He said an autopsy of the Beck baby showed death was caused by boracic acid poisoning. About 45 babies are in the hos pital's nursery, about half, of them on bottle feedings. There was no report as to how many got the boracic acid mixture. Bottles Became Mixed Dr. Dupont said distilled water for the baby formula is kept in the same storeroom as the boracic acid solution. The c'is tilled water, he added, is kept in clear bottles; the boracic acid in brown bottles, and the hospital is investigating how the two became mixed. "It appears the distilled water was prepared about a week ago by a male nurse," he said. "The boracic acid was prepared a few days ago by an unqualified fe male assislant." Coroner Dr. J. M. LeBoldus or dered an inquest. Classified Section CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING CASH RATES Uvirtilini pa; "tMinit! Wittifl ftatttwf ! He thought the airman looked like Widen. 'Looks Like Picture' . McClary confronted Widen as the major returned to the base after making out a new will. After Widen commented about his will McClary said: "Speaking of wills, here's a story about the brother of a Ger man pilot who is looking for a P38 pilot shot down over Tunis. "It seems this German pilot left the P38 driver something in his will. Didn't you. fly P38 and didn't you get shot down? "By golly." McClary added, "this looks like your picture." His memory refreshed with his battered wartime diary, Widen re called a German ME109 knocked him down as Widen flew a high altitude bomber escort, mission from Biskra to Bizcrte. . Widen was captured by Germans after parachuting into three feet of water near the airfield on which his plane crashed. Title of Expert The meeting between enemies was recorded in the dairy: "I was escorted with many grins, gestures and beau coups, German talk which I did not understand, to the drome where 1 met Sgt. Hoffman, who had shot me down." Widen believes he confused the name "Hoffman" with Hafner at the time. "I was very impressed with the man," the diary said. "I got the impression I was the first victim he had met or seen. I didn't feel so bad when I found out I had gotten the business from a real expert." Hafner earned the title "expert" by shooting down 80 Allied, planes before Widen's. 90th Birthday Draws Passenger Train Halt GRAND HAVEN, Mich.
