First and second degree burns covered more than SO per cent of his body, with his feet most severely affected. Surgery Scheduled Carl Gillespie entered Emanuel Hospital, Portland this week for major surgery. Mrs. Sam Dchlinger and daugh ter, Keven, are here from Klam ath Falls to spend spring vacation week with Mrs. Dchlinger's par ents, Mr, and Mrs. RusseU Weim er. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. D. Fox of Lookingglass have returned to their homes after a two-week vacation trip to Hawaii, which was made by plane. They toured Oahu and other is land cities, as well as making a trip to the famous volcano, Kilauea and other points of interest. They left Kona on their return trip, ar riving home late Thursday. During their stay in the Islands, they re sided in an apartment on Waikiki Beacn. Couple Returns Mr. and Mrs. Otto Jones return ed to Winston recently after a trip, which took them to California, Ari zona and into Mexico. They went into Mexico about 400 miles, where they did some sightseeing of the towns of Navajoa and Alamos. The latter is a mountain town being re vived. It was well known for its gold and silver mines during George Washington's time. They went deep sea fishing, and, on the return trip, visited Mrs, Jones' sisters and families in Cali fornia. They also visited several friends before returning borne. Drive Taken Mr. and Mrs. Lee O. Hunt and son, David with Mrs. Charles Mc- Cord and son, Pete, drove to San Jose, cam., moay, wnere tne Hunts visited with Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Scharp. Raymond and Caro lyn. They were also accompanied by a daughter, Linda Lee, who re sides in Salem. The McCords visited relatives in Cupertino while in that area. They all returned to Winston, Monday, when Linda Lee returned to Salem to resume her employment at the Library. The three then went on to Portland to spend a few days. Flo Ann McDonald, Velda Elli son, Madelyn Waters, Peggy But ler and Arline Langendoerfer, bowling for Ellison's U Drive, par ticipated in the state bowling tour nament at North Bond over the weekend. Mrs. McDonald, who was accompanied on the trip by her husband, Hugh, attended the an nual uregon Male Woman s Bowl ing Association meeting, and as state treasurer, was present for the executive board meeting. '4. Elks Circus Due In Area The circus Is coming! Ken Jensen's Elks Circus will ho in Roseburg Wednesday with two big shows slated at the Douglas County Fairground's Community Building. The circus, one of the largest fraternal sponsored circuses in the country, will feature 20 different acts designed to please the audi ience. Each performance lasts more than two hours. Among the acts Roseburg's cir cus fans will see will be the Car lyle Troupe, an American acroba tic act; Johnny Welde and his Bears; Tonya and Princess, a trained elephant act; Billy Orwell, a youthful aerial star; and Scott's Royal Football Dogs. Showtime on Wednesday will be at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wafer Supply Good At Winston-Dillard Lou Shiglev. superintendent of the Winston-Dillard Water Dis trict, has received a letter from the Oregon State Board of Health in Portland, advising him that the local district had met the stand arris of purity for drinking water during 19H0. Jean DaVora, president of the Roseburg Woman's Bowling Asso ciation, and Imogene Piper, secre tary, were in North Bend over the weekend to attend the annual state association meeting. Mrs. Devore also attended the executive ses sion. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Haynes of St. Paul, Minn., have left to re turn home following a visit here with the former's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mis. Bill Wall er. They also spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Don Lent, the latter the niece of Mr. and Mrs. Haynes. Mrs. C. L. Inmari and Mrs. J. M. Larson, both of Springfield were here Friday evening for a visit at. the home of the former's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Inman. Mrs. Larson is In man's sister. Norman Boa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Boe, is back in Roseburg after spending the week of spring vacation visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Oliver of Canby.
