Julia Bath Mills of Springfield, Ore., is spending the spring vaca tion here visiting her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C, Laurence. Mr. and Mrs, Harold Glover and family are spending the week of spring vacation on a trip to Dis neyland and visiting relatives and friends at points of interest in Cali fornia. Iran Wangaman, owner of Irene's Beauty Salon, and Mrs. Olger G. Helland, beautician of the salon, were in Portland during the week end to attend the Hairdressers' Trade Show. Mrs. Clifford Wilson and four children of Coquiile stopped over in Roseburg this week to visit tne former's aunt. Mrs. Lynn Hanna, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ala Esoo before going on to hpruigtieia to visit. They will visit briefly with friends in Lake Grove, their former home, en route north. Tom Ziplr of Medford is spend ing a few days in Roseburg visit ing relatives and friends. Mrs. Carri Hill, Mrs. Louise Risley, Mrs. Lydia Scheidt and Mrs. Lola Crabtree, representing the American Red Cross, spent Tuesday m Roseburg assisting wan the Social Service Department at the VA Hospital, Mrs. Gary Long of KE Freemont Avenue recently returned irom Eugene where she was tinder med ical examination at saeren neari Hospital. Her infant son, Richard, is now recovering from pneumonia, following treatment at Mercy Hospital. Tiller School Band Presents Program Reversing usual procedure, the program preceded the business session at the recent Tiller-Drew PTA meeting held at the grade school, when the band made its initial appearance of the year, Mrs. Milton Hammersly, corre spondent reports. Under the baton of Stanley Girt, music dirpctor of School District No. 13, the band presented five selections. William E. Lewellcn of Days Creek, District 15 superintendent, explained problems of the hot lunch program during the business session. C. J. Mr. and Mr. Gorg Erickson and family are visiting Roseburg friends during spring vacation. They are former residents and now make their home m ueavenon. V, Harphara, Mr. Harpham will re ceive medical care here, ihe Harp hams have been spending the win ter months in Arizona, Mrs. Mc- Taggart expects to bring her fath er here Wednesday, and Mr. Mc Taggart will drive his mother-in-law back to Roseburg. David Hall has been enjoying a visit here with his sister, Mrs. Richard John Jr., NW Calkins Rd. Hall, who graduated from local schools, has been in the U. S. Ma rines for several years and has just returned from stations in the Near East on a 45-day leave. He will go to La Grande to visit his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Hall, and on to iew Hampshire for his next assignment, Allan Akhwrt, employed here by the Bureau of Land Manage ment, is slowly responding to treat ment in the East where he has been hospitalized for several weeks. Mrs. Akehurst and two small children are at the home of Mr. Akehurst's parents in such son, N. J,, and recently enjoyed a visit with her parents in Ohio. The family expects lo return lo their home here about the first of April. Mr. Orvill FInor of Ashland and formerly of this city is still a patient at Children's Hospital in San Francisco, according lo word received here by her daughter, Mrs. Lee Holmes. Mrs. Fieenor underwent successful eye surgery three weeks ago but is remaining in the hospital due to compile tions. Mrs. Fieenor would appre ciate hearing from her Roseburg friends and cards may be sent to her in pare of the hospital. Mrs. Al Utn look her mother, Mrs. W, Fest, to Astoria this week to visit the former's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Maddox, and to see Mrs, Fest's great-granddaughter, Heidi, for Ihe first time, Heidi is the infant a let ter of Mr. and Mrs. William Easier bend. Mrs. Fasterbend will be re membered here as the former Jeanne Maddox, talented dancer and eldest daughter of the Mad- doxes. Mr. John A. (Eva I Edward Jr., 70, of Mobile, Ala., a former resi dent of this city, died luesday, March 14, at the home of her sun. John A. Edwards HI, in Mobile. Her husband preceded her in death In 1949, Mrs. Edwards resided here with her husband for some years and again afier his death, leaving here about a year aso, Survivors include two sons. John A. Ill of Mobile and Ivan of Rote buri; and three daughters, Elea nor Kye of Grants Pa and Louisa Martin and Claire Elders, both of Mobile. There were 16 grandchil dren, among whom are Mary Louise, Iva Mac. Ivan Jr. and bus an Edwards, children of Mr. and Mrs, Ivan Edward of Roseburg.
