Planned Visit To Boeing
Comes Under Criticism
SALEM (AP)-Rep. John Del
lenback, R-Meriford, has criti
cized Friday's trip to Seattle by a
six - member legislative group
which wants to talk to Boeing Air
plane Co. officials.
He said the matter of Boeing's
proposed lease of the Boardman
Bombing Sange isn'l the legisla
ture's business.
He predicted that 90 per cent
of the legislators would vote for
acquisition of Boardman, and 1hal
he fears the legislature's delay
might damage the chances of Boe
ing taking over the site.

WINTERS OF DISCONTENT Winters throughout the world have been petting colder
since the early 1940s, according to the U.S. Weather Bureau. Up till then, average
temperatures, when plotted on a graph, had shown a long upward trend beginning in
the 1880s. At its peak, the annual mean temperature was about .9 degrees warmer
than in 1880. Average winter temperature was nearly 1.2 degrees higher. Scientists
are not agreed on the causes, but it appears than now winters are getting to be more
like the ones grandpa talks about.
