of Auburn, Wash., arrived Thurs
day in Roseburg for a visit at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Michener. The De Walds are en
route home after spending the win
ter in Arizona.
Duane Starr, who recently com
pleted his six months training in
the Army at Fort Ord. Calif., has
returned here and has resumed
his work at the Roseburg Branch
of the U.S. National Bank. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Starr o this city.

left for their home in LonKview,
Wash., following the last month

while they were on vacation.

returned to their home on SE Kane
Street, following a week in San
Jose and San Francisco attending
to business and a few days in
Palo Alto visiting their son, Ber
nie. who is a freshman at Stan
ford. The Rv. and Mr. Robort Bur-
ton of Bandon spent Tuesday and
Wednesday here at Hip home of
the latter's parents, Mr, and Mrs.
R. R. Brand, in Westmoreland.
The Rev. Mr. Burton presented
the Lenten devotions at St.
George's Episcopal Church.
Bill Schrader, who has been sta
tioned in Korea with the U. S. Air
Force, is expected to arrive in
Roseburg this weekend to be with
his wife and small son and to
visit with his parents, Mr. a nd
Mrs. Wilbur Schrader. Schrader
has a 30-day leave, then will go
to his next duty at Langley AFB
near Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Schrader
and their son will accompany
him.
Mrs. M. E. Groshong has re
turned to her home in Laurelwood
and to the Harvard Avenue Drugs,
where she is a partner in the busi
ness, following the last 26 days va
cationing in Palm Springs. Calif.
She accompanied Mrs. Myrtle Mo
reno of Spokane on the trip. They
also enjoyed yisiting relatives and
lrienus wniie en route to J'aun
Springs. While away, Mrs. Gro
shong's father, Arthur Milby, who
makes his nome with her, suitercd
a fall and fractured his hip and is
a patient at Douglas Community
Hospital. ,
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Albright are
back at their home in Roseburg,
following a six weeks vacation trip
as far east as Mobile, Ala. They
spent considerable time in Biloxi,
Miss., and a few days in New
Orleans, La. En route back they
slopped over in LaCruces, N.M.,
Phoenix. Ariz., an d Pasadena,
Cant. While in fhoemx they en
joyed a visit with the George Mc
intosh' family. Mcintosh, who was
with Standard Oil here before
moving to Phoenix, has just re
ceived the distributorship at San
I'ranciseo and is moving nis lam
ily there soon. Mr. and Mrs. Al
bright report they enjoyed excel
lent weather during their six
weeks away.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duncan, of
Cincinnati, Ohio, have left follow
ing a visit Here with the former s
sisters-in-law, Mrs. Earl F. Strong
and Mrs. J. D. Glenn, and with
the George Neuncr family. Mr.
Duncan has retired from Proctor
and Gamble Soap Co. and he and
his wife are going to Brussels, Bel
gium, to visit his daughter, Mrs
Larry Fay, who is the daughter of
the late Cora Campbell ot this
city. Mrs. Glenn entertained the
family at dinner at her home on

joyed a visit to the Organ Pipe
Monument near Ajo, then went on
lo Mesa, Ariz., to visit the John
Runyons before leaving to return
home.

Glide Community Club
Plans Ballroom Dance
The Glide Community Club will
hold a free ballroom dance March
18 from 9 p.m. until midnight at
the Glide Community Hall, reports
Mrs. Artnur belDy, correspondent.
A five-piece combo orchestra,
available through the Musician's
Performance Trust Fund with the
cooperation of the Roseburg Mu
sician's Union, will furnish the
music.
Refreshments will be sold. The
public is invited.
The Glide Community Club will
hold its regular meeting March 24
at 7 p.m. with a potluck dinner.
Various rock and Indian collec
tions will be on exhibit.
Administration Plans
Hike In Price Supports
WASHINGTON (AP) The
administration was reported Fri
day to be planning lo increase
price supports for dairy products.
Sen. George D. Aiken, R-Vt..
told newsmen he would drop ef
forts to tack a dairy price rider
to the pending feed grains bill
"because new supports at a satis
factory level will be announced.'
Aiken had protested the feed
grains bill would boost cosls lor
dairymen and poultry producers.
He nan proposed to require min
imum price supporls at $3.35 a
hundredweight for manufacturing
milk and 62 rents a pound for
buttcrfat for the marketing year
which begins April 1.
