Local News Mrs. J. R, Donachit and Mrs. Da vid Radke spent Saturday attend ing to business matters in Eugene. Mrf. Parry Cluta of Portland ar rived in Roseburg during the week end to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hicks. Pat Alspaugh, Helen Brothers, Jlary Johnson, Virginia Finch and Corky Rust were in North Bend to bowl for Ken's Dry Cleaning at the state tournament last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johns and baby of Eugene arrived in Rose- hurg Friday night to be the week end guests o airs. Johns' parents Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Titus. Mrs. Elsj Young and Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Spencer left last week for Portland and Eugene to visit relatives and friends for a few 6ys. Margaret Cornutt, Ethel Kramb, Beutah Lyons. Ethel Obrist and Dorothy Jacklin, bowling for Rose burg Lanes, were in Vancouver, Wash., over the weekend to bowl in the All-coast lournaraenl. ! Betty Reece, Ann Robinson, Kay Colley, Pat Neely and Wanda Nea voll spent the weekend at North Bend where they participated in the state bowling tournament. They bowled for The Broiler. Stan Cornutt, Bob Carter, Del Cornutt, Ronald Noel and Don Han sen drove to Vancouver, Wash., to taka part in the weekend All-Coast Tournament. They are members of the Carter Tire Co. team. Mr. and Mrs, Ingvard Jacobson and son, Arthur, of Clyde Park, Mont., visited here briefly recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Worsley and family. The Jacob sons were en route home after a visit in Oklahoma and California. Gunica Noel, Fran Knudtsort, Helea Carter, Ruth Palmer and Joan Cornutt made the trip to Vancouver, Wash., over the week end to bowl for Sunset Automatic Music Co. in the All-Coast tourna ment. Mr, and Mrs. S. VanZea moved Sunday to Medford, where Van Zee has taken over as manager of the Oregon Egg Producers Co operative Association. VanZee has been manager of the Koseourg of fice' for 5Vi years. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Chesrown and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Kittelson have returned from a trip to Old Mexico. On the way down, they visited at Jteno, Virginia City, Boulder Dam and Phoenix, Ariz They returned home by way of boutnern cautorma. Eugene Roelle of Roseburg and Richard Bennett of Sutherlin spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday'in Salt Lake City attending a meet ing of television and electronics engineers. Roelle demonstrated a remote radio controlled television translator, which he has perfected and now has on the market. Mrs. Wtllard Buchanan was in Medford last week to visit friends She accompanied Mrs. T. H. Par geter and T. B. Busenbark, who visited the latter s sister. Mrs. E E. Goodbourn, at Rogue Valley Manor. They also visited at the manor with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Riddle, former Douglas County residents. William Ceritent left today for Portland to attend to business in terests. He is expected home to morrow. Mrs. Ruby Dowlirtg left for her home in Sacramento, Calif., Satur day after a two-day visit in Rose burg with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs, Orvilie Blake. Mr. and Mrs. Eric'Cran and Mrs. Jack May left Friday eve ning for Siltcoos Lake to spend the weekend. The Cranes and the Mays both own property on the lake. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wheldan and family of Salem were weekend vis-j itors here at the home of Wheldon's ! brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and? Mrs. Laleo bailee. j Kay Van Kravalan, University of Oregon student, was home to spend the weekend visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Van Kre velen. Ed Waggoner, University of Ore gon student, left Sunday to return to college after spending the week end here visiting his mother, Mrs. Richard Crenshaw. Toddy and Linda Kay Wingfield, son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wingfield, have been ill with chicken pox and are now convalescing. Mrs. Leit Rothrock spent the weekend in Lebanon visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Po- age. roage recently suftered a stroke and is presently convales cent. Imogen Piper, Barbara Lane. Mary Kruysman. Alice Williams and Jean Mentzer, bowled for Bob's Trophies in the state tourna ment at Kortn Bend over the weekend. Lyl Bowers, son of Carl Bowers of this city, has just completed a two-year enlistment in the U. S Navy and is back in Roseburg He is presently a member of the U. S. Navy Reserve. Lyle'a plans are inueiinne at present. S. H. Wingfield, who is employed at me i ftuniieroird Market m Medford, was home to spend the weekend visiting Mrs. Wingfield and other relatives. He left today to return to Medford. His wife plans to join him there in the near! future. j Doris Kees, Juanita Latham, Ruth Winston, Dorothy Renner, Carol Taylor and Emma Leah Han dy were among women bowlers who bowled in the state tourna ment at North Bend over the week end. They are on the Umpqua Dairy team. Walter Kincaid has taken over as manager of the Roseburg offiee of the Oregon Egg Producers Co operative Association, replacing S. VanZee, who has moved to Med ford. He is commuting from Glen dale, where he has managed the association's office, and will move his family to Roseburg when school is out. Robert C. Wllhite, who has been promoted and transferred to Port land by Pacific Telephone North west, left Sunday to assume his new duties in the directory sales division of the company.
