They have been visiting relatives in Iowa for the last couple of weeks. Young, tree planting contractor, returned to his home in Myrtle Creek last week following a business trip to California. Due to the death of Mrs. Eva Howard, mother of Clifford How ard, Howard Electric, the family will be absent from Roseburg for several days. They will be in Port land for several days for the fu neral. Willamette Board Approves Projects PORTLAND (AP) Nearly $100,000 for campus projects was approved by the Willamette Uni versity Board of Trustees Mon day. me niggest project is a new intramural field and four new hard-surfaced tennis courts for the new south campus area, to he named for the lale Dr. Frank Brown, a Salem phvsician who was Willamette's first athletic director. The improvements will be paid for from Willamette's share of Brown's estate, estimated at more than $.10,000. The trustees voted to raise board charges $20 per student each semester next year to offset higher charges in a new contract with a food service firm that handles dormitory meals. David Lewis, head accountant, was appointed business manager. An accountant will be employed to aid in the business office. Appointed to the hoard was Floyd Bowers, head of a Salem accounting firm. His three compan ions are dead. Martin Kenneth Boullon. 41, and Lucky Norris Holcomb, 41, were killed when the car plunged off a curve during a heavy rain Friday night. It rolled 100 yards from the highway and hit a tree in a deep ravine. Taul Holcomb and Lewis Lee Smith, ,41, were trapped in the wreckage. The Holcombs were not related. Blackburn, knowing the four Gallatin men were missing, went back for another look Monday and spotted car tracks in a pasture two miles west ot (jallalin. He followed the. tracks to Ihe wrecked car, hidden so well that State Police Foil Attempt At Abduction Of Patrolman SALEM (AP) State police Monday night foiled an attempt to abd'uel a state patrolman at gunpoint. They set up a roariwocic ana captured three vnunz persons after patrolman Thomas Hedge coke, 29, escaped by leaping lrom a still-moving car as - it roiled toward the roadblock. Hedgecoke said he was seven miles south of Salem on a second ary road when he stopped a car for which Polk County authorities had been searching. The patrol said he was search ing the two young men who had been in the car, when the third person in the car, a girl, slopped him by drawing I gun from her clothing. Hedgecoke said they then made him drive their car toward tne Pacific Highway freeway. Before they got there they passed another state patrolman, who rerognized the car and radioed ahead for a roadblock. Hedgecoke said he was driving slowly when they saw the 'road block.
