Coming for the Bridge Club Meets Wednesday The Valentine motif was beauti fully carried out for the dessert luncheon given Wednesday by Mrs. Emil Ramberg, when she enter tained her bridge club at her very lovely home on SE Hawthorne Drive. Covers were placed for M r j. Thomas Garrison, a guest, and Mrs. Paul Geddes, Mrs. Spencer Yates, Mrs. W. F. Forrest. Mrs. Bea Smith, Mrs. Ralph Ohman, Mrs. Byron Woodruff and the hostess, Mrs. Ramberg. ' , High score for the afternoon's contract bridge play was won by Mrs. Geddes with Mrs. Garrison winning the second high score. E. Groshong, in Laurelwood. He also has a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Smith, in Sunnyside, Wash., and two sons, Horold Milby of Coos Bay, who was here for the celebration, and Cranston Milby, of Pendleton. He has 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Milby was in business for himself at Milton-Freewater for 50 years and then manager of the store at Walla Walla penitentiary until he retired when he was 76 years of age. His health is excellent and he enjoys a great many hobbies. He especially enjoys cooking and never lets a week go by without making a pie. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren call him "The Grand Man" and all who know him agree heartily with the title being given him. Milby was born Feb. 3, 1875, in Missouri. S. fleet Thursady. While the Atlantic Fleet band provided background music, com missioning rites for the atomic at tack submarine Shark were con ducted at. the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dryduck Co. yards. Glendale Church Group Plans Sale The Women's Association of the Olivet Presbyterian Church in Glendale has scheduled a rum mage sale Feb. This year marks the 75th anni versary of the World Day of Pray er. The participation of every Protestant and Orthodox church in the United States in the observ ance and an offering of $750,000 for regular on-going projects and for snecial nroiccts In Africa and Alaska are tho .goals. R. Thompson, pas tor of the Church of the Open Bible, Glide, has submitted his1 resignation, effective rcb. 12. The Rev. Mr. Thompson is the founder and builder of the church and has been in the Glide area for the past six years. The group has pledged $225 for ils conference pledge to the state or Oregon and has already raised $176 toward the pledge.
