Name Changes Proposed
For Washington Schools
OLYMPIA (AP) Dropping the
words "of Education" from Wash
ington's three colleges of educa
tion has met with House commit
tee approval.
The House Higher Education
Committee Monday passed the
bill, renaming the three schools
Western Washington College, Cen
tral Washington College and East
ern Washington College.
Dr. James L. Jarrett, president
of Western told the committee
that renaming the institutions
would increase their prestige and
national status.
Kennedy Asked To Limit
Imports Of Grass Seed
SALEM (AP) The Senate
passed Tuesday and sent to the
House a memorial asking Presi
dent Kennedy to limit import of
fine fescue grass seed into the
United States to five million
pounds a year. ,
About 90 per cent of this coun
try's fescue is grown in the Wil
lamette and Grande Ronde val
leys of Oregon.
