held Jan. 20 at the Elkton Chris
tian Church 10 to 11:30 a.m. I)r.
John Donnelly will be in charge.
Meeting Scheduled
The Elkton Farm Bureau will
meet in the all-purpose room in
the grade school Monday at 6:30
E.m for a potluck dinner and
usiness meeting. A representa
tive of the Tidewater Oil Company
will be guest speaker for the eve
ning. ine Mother Singers will meet
the second and fourth Wednesday
in the future at the grade school
at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Howard Carnes returned to
Elkton from Yuma, Ariz., where
Carnes is working. She will return
to Arizona after a two-week slay
in Elkton.
Harold Higgins has gone to Port
land where he will undergo a
checkup at the Veterans Hospital.
Mrs. Charles Watson has recent
ly been notified that she has had
the honor of being cccepted by the
Golden Gate Pembroke Welsh Cor
gi Fanciers group.

Lawrence Rigor was admitted
to the Eugene Clinic and Hospital
this week for observation. Rigor
recently underwent surgery.

President Rejects Plan
For New Air Service
WASHINGTON (AP) Presi
dent Eisenhower Thursday reject
ed major recommendations of the
Civil Aeronautics Board for new
trans-Pacific air service.
Eisenhower said his decision
not lo approve the board's prin
cipal recommendations was pred
icated on considerations of foreign
policy. He said this responsibility
is his and that the board does not
' share in it.

approved: That Pan American World Air-
j ways he allowed to fly from New
i York through Alaska to Tokyo on
the Great Circle Route.
That Northwest Airlines be al
lowed lo fly from Los Angeles and
San. Francisco by way of the
i Great Circle route to Tokyo.

to fly from California points to
j Tokyo by way of Honolulu.
That Northwest be allowed to
fly from New York by way of
