Coquille visiting the latter's son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Rogan, and children.
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Mountain
and Patricia have returned home
after spending the holidays in
Southern California. Mrs. Moun
tain and Patricia stayed in Rialto,
Calif., with the former's brother,
Jack Atkin, and family; and her
sister, Mrs. Doris Hester, and
and brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Glen Arnold. The group
met to attend family business con
nected with the estate of the late
Mrs. B. Atkin, mother of Mrs.
Mountain, Mrs. Hester, Mrs. Ar
nold and Jack Atkin. Orville Moun
tain was in Santa Monica attend
ing to business affairs. The Moun
tains arrived home New Year's
night. The next day a combination
holiday party was enjoyed with
Mr. and Mrs. .John Mountain and
family of Eugene.

who is studying for his Ph. D. in
bacteriology at Oregon Stale Col
lege in Corvallis.

Mrs. Louie Sweeley in Winston

Specialist 4 Robert Oilman has
left for Fort Ricker. Ala., where
he will be stationed for special
instructions in the armed forces.
Mrs. Gilman and daughters re
mained in Dillard where they now
reside. The Gilman arrived in Dil
lard before the holidays, where
they have been visiting their par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Haume
ser and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gil
man, after residing in the Hawai
ian Islands the past two years.

friends and attend to business

Mr. and Mrt. Gene Baxter of
Moscow, Idaho, visited here re
cently at the home of the latter's
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. James Daughtery, and fam
ily. The Baxters were en route
home after a trip to California.
Mr. and Mrt. Homer Pattiton
returned to Roseburg Tuesday eve
ning from Portland where they
spent the past week. They attend
ed the funeral of Mrs. Pattison's
aunt, who died Dec. 25. They also
visited relatives in the Portland
and Salem vicinities. '
Mitt Grace Smurr has returned
to her home in Southern California,
following a stay here at the home
of her brother-in-law, Dr. Charles
K. Todd. Miss Smurr had been
visiting in the East and was called
to Roseburg by the sudden death
of her sister, Mrs. Todd.
Robert McDermott returned to
his work with the Burke Arenz Mu
sic Co. in Portland Tuesday, fol
lowing the last two weeks here
visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
C. M. McDermott. His father took
him back to Portland and at
tended to business there. McDer
mott is distributor for Tidewater
Oil Co. here.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stock have re
turned to their home on Dogwood
Drive after spending the holidays
visiting their son, S. Sgt. Donald
Smith, and family, who are station
ed at Larson AFB at Moses Lake,
Wash. On Dec. 23 the Smiths be
came parents of a son, Kenneth
Floyd, who weighed 7 pounds 2
ounces. The new baby joins two
brothers, David, 3v, and Billy, 1.
Sgt. Smith is just completing his
seventh year in the U. S. Air
Force. Mrs. Smith is the former
Jackie Evans of this city.

and family spent the holiday week
end in Eugene visiting Johnson's
parents,. Mr. and Mrs. Otto John
son. Mr. and Mrt. Carroll Nash have
returned home after spending a
week in Pasco, Wash., visiting
with relatives. Nash is agent for
Farmer's Insurance Group,
Deanna Pugh, the daughter of
Mr. and Airs. H. I. Pugh, Calkins
