    Idaho Pair Spends Holiday
With Lookingglass Parents

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Krazier of
Nampa, Idaho, spent the Christ
mas holiday at the home of their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Graves, in Looking
glass. They were accompanied by Mr.
and Mrs. Gene Oberg and daugh
ter who visited relatives in Kose
burg. Craves Entertain
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Mills and
family from the Coos Bay area
were dinner guests Christmas Day
at the home of the latter's brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Graves.
Mrs. Louis Dowd of Athena, Ore.,
is visiting for several weeks at
the home of her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mi's. George
Marsh.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Tollefson
of Portland were guests over the
Christmas weekend in the home of
their son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. C. Tollefson.
Leslie Green spent a three-day
leave from the naval base at Whid
by Island with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Green, and fam
ily Leslie has 11 months of his
term in service remaining.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Green and
daughters, accompanied by the for
mer's brother, Melvin, came from
Portland to spend Christmas Day
with the home folk, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Green and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ned Nay and small
son of Portland are spending the
holidays with the former's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Nay.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clarke of
Raymond, Wash., have left after
spending five days with the lat
ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Schulze, and family.

land is spending the Christmas
holidays with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Buell, and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Swift and
small son of Kent, Wash., visited
over the Christmas weekend with

Mrs. Ivan Swift and Mr. and
Mrs. Sylvester Powell. Swift is em
ployed by the Boeing Aircraft Corp.

the latter's brother-in-law and sis
ter. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schjilze.

Jim Williams came from Oregon
State College, Corvallis, to spend
the holidays with their respective

Miss Sondra Jansen of the Ore
gon Technical Institute, Klamath
Falls, is spending the holidays at
the home of her parents, Mr and
Mrs. Jack L. Jansen. David Wylie
and Louie Vance came from South
ern Oregon College, Ashland, for

Brian Pargeter is spending his
Navy leave with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Pargeter, of Mel
rose. He has been attending school
at San Diego, Calif.
The Pargeter's son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Myron
Phillips, of Pullman, Wash., plan
to leave at the week's end for
their home following a holiday vis
it here. On Monday Mr. and Mrs.
Dick Pargeter and children, and
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Manning and
small son, all of Woodburn, spent
the day in Melrose with the Par
geter family.
Student Visits
Betty Buckwalter, who attends
college in Seattle, Wash., is spend
ing two weeks with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Buckwalter,
and with her brother, Harry.
Sylvia Fenn of Portland visited
her parent-s, the Joel Fenns, dur
ing the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Davis and
sons have returned to their home
in Eugene following the holiday
weekend with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. I. C. Smith.
Andy Mekemson and son, Larry,
of Newport visited relatives and
friends here over Christmas. .Lar
ry remained for a longer visit with
his grandmother, Mrs. Harris.
Mr. and Mrs. .Lou Basset are
visiting relatives in Wisconsin.
Milford Howard of Seattle, Wash,
spent Christmas with his father,

Effect Of Economic Trends

Early Christmas business at the
Tiller Post Office reflected the gen
eral economic downtrend resulting
from local mill and logging opera
tion closures, according to C. J.
Porter, postmaster. However, both
incoming and outgoing mail in
creased in volume in the final days
to bring the holiday business about
equal to last year, Porter said.
Drew Couple Visited
Eddie Lowry of Los Angeles,
Calif., visited his parents, , Mr. and
Mrs. Virgle Lowry of Drew over
the Christmas weekend. When he
returned South, he was accompan
ied by his brother, Robert, who
will spend several days in the Los
Angeles vicinity.
Mrs. Ron Wilson of Portland
called at the home of Mr. and
