Airlines Critical
Of New Jef Fuel
LONDON (AP) The world's
Big airline companies are buzzing
over an argument by two
British officials about a new jet
fuel one of them says is danger
ously explosive.
The new fuel, called JP4, Is a
mixture of gasoline and kerosene
instead of just kerosene alone'
Many airlines now use it, but an
airline executive in New York
said no domestic airline he knows
of uses JP4 in normal operations
in the United States. I

onstration was "harmful to the
worldwide airline industry." He
wrote Brabazon and accused him
of putting dangerous statements
before "emotional millions."
Brabazon said no group of ex
ports could dispute his claim that
JP4 flashes quickly into flame
while kerosene does not. No
planes using the fuel have been
known to crash and Brabazon did
not cite airy cases.

try said the fuel was adopted aft
er stringent testing and is tech
nically superior.

Eisenhower, who has done con
siderable pistol shooting in his
time, asked about the team's
average at 50 yards. Crawford
told him that all five members of
the team are masters, which re
quires an averago of 91 out of a
possible 100.
Maj. Italph Stover, head of the
White House police, called the
team one of the best in the nation.
It is selected from the 100 men
.assigned to guard the Whito House
and the President's Gettysburg,
Pa., farm.

Army grade had he been defeated
in the 1952 presidential race.
He made the remark to news
men who accompanied him on his
usual morning stroll in 12 degree

Eisenhower resigned from the
military upon entering polities
eight years ago. There have been
reports of a move in Congress to
restore his grade as general of
the Army when ho leaves the
White House.
Truman, as usual, covered a
wide range of topics on his walk.
Asked if he planned to play the
"Missouri Waltz." at the inaugu
ration bail for President-elect John
F. Kennedy, Truman replied: "I
don't know how to play it. I don't
like the damned thing but I've had
to listen to it more than 40 000
times."

Salem Man Shot
During Argument

was shot in the stomach Tues
day as n climax to a strcctsidc
argument.
Beuford Amburgey, 24, was list
ed in good condition in Salem
CJeneral Hospital, where he under
went surgery for removal of the
bullet.
Police said Ihey were looking
for- two men, both unidentified,
Richard Ixe Arnold, 25, Salem,
a friend of Amburgey, told offi
cers they were driving along a
street here, and had exchanged
words with the other two men,
who drove in a car alongside.
Both cars slopped along the
street, and the argument contin-
uea.
Suddenly, one of the other two

burgey. Then both jumped in
their car and sped off.
Police believe the men sought
may have had a woman with
them.
Arnold took Amburgey to the

This was the opinion of Brook
lyn Municipal Court Justice Fred
G. Jlorrit, who ruled Tuesday in
favor of Chou-Chou and his 6-year-old
master.
The Prudential Management
Corp. had moved to evict Mr.
and Mrs. Morton Turoff, their two
children and Chou-Chou because
the dog's presence violated a no
pets rule of the cooperative apart
ment building.
Hut Turolf told the court that
psychiatrist had advised him
to buy a dog for his young son,
Steven, because the lad "needed
something to cuddle."
Judge Moritt, in dismissing the
petition, noted that the dog was
well behaved and "so tiny as to
easily fit in a man's breast pock
