V 0 VI r it a ft- ft X r 'r- BETHEL 8, International Order of Job's Daughters, will pre sent the annual Christmas Vesper service Sunday, Dec. 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church. The public is cordially invited to enjoy this hour of' music by the choir under the direction of Mrs. H. James Jenkins. Special solos will be sung by Honored Queen Penelope Ostrander.' Mary Ann Beardsley will present a group of piano solos. During the candlelight carol singing the choir will be assisted by Queen Penelope Ostrander; senior princess, Cindy Seavoll; junior princess, Brooke Young, and the Rev. H. James Jen kins, minister of the church. Incidental solos will be sung by Donna Smith and Sharon' Counts. Peggy Ostrander is accompanist for the choir. Charming Shower At Tiller Compliments Miss Higgins Miss Phyllis Higgins, bride-elect of Jarard Richardson of Days Creek, was feted at a pre-nuplial shower recently for which Mrs. Charles Jackson of Drew was host ess. The parly was held at the lliRgins home at Tiller. The honored guest, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Higgins, and her fiance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Richard son of Days- Creek, have chosen Dec. 23 for their wedding, which will 1 be held in the .Methodist Church in Roseburg. Mrs. Jackson had made and decorated a large Bible cake, iced in blue, white and yellow, which graced the lace-covered table as the centerpiece. Other decorative touches were in pink and while. Interesting games furnished en tertainment, for which prizes were awarded to Mrs. Anton Erlebach, Mrs. Clarence 'Richardson and Mrs. Ed Hendrix. The hostess served delightful refreshments aft er Miss Higgins had opened her gifts. Present to honor the bride-elect were Mrs. Clarence Richardson and Mrs. Ed Hendrix of Days Creek, Miss Frances Stone of Can yonville, and Mrs. Anton Erie bach, Mrs. L. C. Graves, Mrs. Vernon Morris. Sutherlin Girl November Bride Ali.s Sharon Donoho, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Archie Donoho of Sutherlin, became the bride of; Kenneth Stillwell Saturday, Nov. 12, at a quiet afternoon-ceremony nerformed at the Methodist Church in Sutherlin. The Rev. John P. Ginter, church pastor, ofticated at the double ring ceremony read at 2 o'clock, .bc'fure the . immediate families of the couple. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Stillwell, also of Sutherlin. . , ; , The bride was most attractive In a blue checked wool suit worn with white accessories. Her hat was of white lace and pink velvet, and she wore white gloves : and shoes. I ' ' Miss Susan O'Connell acted as bridesmaid and Laddie Crippeo served as best man. The traditional wedding march es were played on the organ, by Mrs. Arthur Treman,- church or ganist. A buffet luncheon, served at the home of the bridegroom's parents followed the ceremony, after which the newly married couple left to spend the weekend in Eugene. ' Stokes Home Is Wedding Scene Donna Stevens, daughter of Mr. and Airs. Robert Stevens of Glen dale, and Robert Estes, son of Mrs. Everett Penry of Glendale were married Friday evening, Nov. 25, at the home of the bridegroom's brother-in-law". and ister. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stokes of 501 Valley View Road, Grants Pass. The couple was attended by Mrs. Stokes,-. sister of the bride groom, and by Gary Stevens, brother of the bride. The Rev. L. G. After a brief wedding trip the newlyweds are at home in Klam ath Falls where the bridegroom is a student at Oregon Technical In stitute. Both attended elementary and high school in Glendale and were graduated in 1960. Roseburg Past Noble Grands Club Meets At Hall For Annual Christmas Dinner The Past Noble Grand Club met Thursday for its annual Christmas dinner at the 1UOF Hall. Members and guests enjoyed the delicious dinner which was served in the dining room at tables which had been beautifully decorated by el ma Herman and Mamie Fett. After dinner, a short meeting was conducted by the president. Lena Poole. Dorothv Neal led the devotions. Y'aleda Moore was pro posed' for membership and was initiated, Lydia Gillette acting as marshal. Lighted Christmas trees decor ated the garden and patio. Lovely holiday decorations were used throughout the spacious rooms. Dinner was served at 7 p.m. from tables covered with red net over white and centered with minia ture white net Christmas trees gaily decorated with colorful orna ments. Recorded Christmas carols formed the background dinner music. Mrs. Sam Shoemaker and Mrs. Clyde Chitwood were in charge of arrangements. A gift exchange and visiting were enjoyed. . Glendale FL Club Has Yule Party The Glendale FL Club held its annual Christmas party at the IOOF Hall Thursday evening, with 36 members present. During the meeting, officers were elected as follows: Airs. James Booth, president; Airs. Pete Taylor, vice president; Mrs. Fritz Alagill, secretary; and Mrs. Bill Blomme, treasurer. After the meeting, members joined in filling 136 bags with homemade candy they had brought to the meeting. The candy will be sent to the Odd Fellows Home in Portland for its Christmas festivi ties.
