Worthy Matron Kath ryn Roadman and Worthy Patron Ted Roadman presided. The worthy matron reported on the District meeting held at Rose burg November 3rd. Gertrude Hebard was elected to the office of treasurer left vacant by the resignation of Ruth Bunch. Installation will be held at the next regular meeting. the worthy matron gave i read ing appropriate to Uie Thanksgiv ing season. Program chairman, Na omi Riggs, gave a reading en titled, "Thanksgiving 1960," and read a humorous Thanksgiving poem by Edgar A. Guest. I.ucrelia Ross, accompanied by Genevieve Murphy, sang "For The Bounty of The Earth." ' Following the meeting refresh ments were served in the dining room at tables beautifully decorat ed with chrysanthemum. Decoration committee for the evening included Juanita Holgate and l.elh Barnes; refreshment committee. Ella Sparks. l.eo Sparks, Helen Curry, Don Curry, Birthday Notecf At Club Party Florence Goodman was the guest of honor when 'the Winston Gay Ladies met at the home of Addie Slobbe in Winston recently. Sharon Lambreth was co-hostess. . Games were played and the many lovely birthday gifts were opened by the honored guest. The table was attractive with an ecru lace cloth centored by i beau tifully decorated birthday cake. Delicious refreshments were serv ed by the hostesses to Venice Standbaugh, Mary I,ee Shoulls, Vir ginia Hubbard. , Deane Mowrey, Mushey Mitchell, Doris Goodman, Donna Huffman. Viola Goodman. Florence Goodman and a new member, Clara Bauslough, was taken into the group. The December meeting will be held at the home of Florence Good man with Marge AlrConnel as hon ored guest. There will be a gift ex change among the group. Teacher Honored At Room Party Miss Ardith Myers. Glendale fifth grade teacher, whose birth day was t rally, was honored at a surprise birthday party in her room Thursday afternuon. Members of the class had plan ned the party. Several mothers brought refreshments. Miss Myers was presented with a birthday rake, decorated in yel low and white, which had been made and decorated by Mrs. Ah in Long. The hostesses served refresh ments. Hostesses were Mrs. Alvin l.ong, Mrs, Bill Kcaton, Mrs. MacNapier and Mrs. Maurice McDowell. Games, singing and dancing occu pied the party hour. Gov. of Mod-' ford, was the guest speaker at the inlor-club dinner meeting Monday I evening at the Dillard 'school,' when the Winslon-Dillard Kiwani-' ans hosted their wives and mem bers from the Glide and Roseburg clubs and their wives. Rice gave an inspirational mes sage following the induction of a ' new member, John Tucker, into the Winston-Dillard Club. Lt. Gov. Paul Hult was program chairman for the evening. Over HO guests enjoyed the de lightful turkey dinner, which was provided by Evelyn Nickerson. A lovely buffet luncheon was served to the members and guests seated at small tables. Mrs. Carl W. Brendenfels of St. Helens, president of Oregon AAUW was introduced as guest speaker. Airs. Adrian Lofland, chairman of Status of Women committee, made the presentation speech and calied attention to the training, accom plishments and positions of trust in which Mrs. Brendenfels is out standing. She received her BS de gree in business administration and her LLB degree at the University of Nebraska. She was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1944 and has served as district judge of Columbia County. She is also pres ident of the Columbia Bar Assn., a member of the Governor's Ad visory Committee to the State Board of Health and is actively in terested in a commercial way in the Brandenfels Enterprises. , In developing her topic, M r s. Brendenfels enlarged upon "The Advancement of Women; A Free way or a Detour?" in a friendly heart-to-heart manner and chal lenged her listeners with the op portunity and obligation to , meet the needs of the day. "Nothing" Cascade Motor Club Has Annual Banquet Saturday The Cascade Historical Af o t o r Club held its annual banquet at the Four Winds Restaurant Satur day night. The tables were set and decorated in fall colors, with low vases of bronze and yellow chrysanthemums as the center pieces. President of the local club, Gor don Larson, introduced Charlie Reidel, and Don Hensen, incoming and outgoing presidents respective ly, of the Eugene Horseless Car riage Club. Attending from Eu gene were Mrs. Reidel, Airs. Hen sen, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bur iam, Mr. and Airs. Ted Lajoi, and Don Short. There were 15 mem bers present from the Cascade His torical Alotor Club.
