As she desired to earn her own expenses, she found it expedient to take five yeors to complete her course instead of the usual four. She has two older sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Myrtle) Bigelow, Rose burg, and Mrs. Marvin (Pluma) Wright, who lives near Seattle. Miss Wollen also has two bro thers, Ernest, College Place, Wash., who plans to enter Walla Walla College for the winter quarter, and Carl, who is still at home attending school. All five of the Wallen young people are former stu dents of Roseburg Junior Academy. Toastmistresses Make Plans For Christmas Party The Roseburg Toastmistress Club met Tuesday night, with "Give them the Ax as the Thanks giving theme. The table decora tions were yellow and bronze chrys anthemums and a gourd and corn ucopia arrangement. " Dorothea Yantis of Coos Bay. membership stabilization chairman of Council 8, and her daughter, Aletta were special guests of the evening. Lois Krug gave the inspiration for the evening. Topicmistress Al ice Larson introduced table topics which dealt with personal appear ance and different stages of pre' paring and giving a speech. After the meeting, Clara Rock well, toastmistress for the evening, introduced Mrs. Yantis, who spoke on ways of acquiring and keeping more .members. Jo Lesher, as lex icologist, gave a word drill. A beauti ful linen tablecloth, brought from Sweden covered the long table where places were set for Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Baker and daughters, Bonnie and Linda, of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Hall and chil dren, Claude and Judy; and Mr. and Mrs. Thorton Baker, all of Winston; and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. This is the first time since the start of World War It, that the whole family has been together. The Johnsons, who recent ly bought the Williams chirken ranch, came here from Northern California. Schaeffer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a family dinner at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Schaeffer, on Umpqua St. in Rose burg. They were married Oct. 31, 1910, by the Rev. McConnel of the First Christian Church in Roseburg. Im mediately after v their marriage they settled on a farm in Glengary where they still reside. They are the parents of two children, Harley Schaeffer of Roseburg and Mrs. Glen McMaster of Lebanon. They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Schaeffer was May Wilson before her marriage. She was born in Missouri and traveled to Oregon by wagon train with her parents when a small child.
