She Is exceptionally well qualified to discuss this topic. She earn ed her BS ond olso her LLB degrees from the University of Nebraska. In IVAA she was admitted to the Oregon State Bar and served os judge of District 6 Court of Columbia County. She is president of the Columbia Bar Association and is a member of the Gov ernor's Advisory Committee to the State Board of Health. In addition. A discussion was held on arrange ments for the forth-coming Beta Sigma Phi sponsored fashion show and card party to oe Nov. m. Mrs. Robert Kidder presented the cultural program, "The Writ ten Word." She discussed good letter-writing and read some famous letters in history. Group discussion on the subject followed. Junior Women Enjoy Meeting The Roseburg Junior Woman's Club held a very interesting meet ing recently at the Woman's Club House when Dr. Lelan Van Allen, local dentist, showed beautiful slide and save a most informa tive talk on the Phillipine Islands. The slides were taken when Dr. Van Allen was stationed in the Phillomnes with the Navy. He also told of the history and customs of the natives and snowca auiereni souvenirs which he had brought back with him. At the close of the meeting, love ly refreshments were served to Emembers and guests present by hospitality committee, Mrs. Robert Weaver, Mrs. Allen Akehurtt and Mrs. Glen Yates. "Around The World" theme will add a festive and colorful spirit to the annual turkey dinner and bazaar to be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Sunday, Nov. 13. Countries around the world will be represented in the various booths, which will offer for sale fancy work, holiday decorations and plants. Consulates upon being approached by letter, have re sponded with decorative materials and objects typical of their coun tries. Many native costumes will' be worn by booth attendants and hostesses in the dining rooms. ' An interesting and novel feature ot the bazaar will be the post of fice booth. The items in this booth will have come from out-of-town friends and relatives and will be sold grab-bag style. The plant booth will represent our 50th stale, Hawaii. The bazaar opens at 2 p.m. and serving of dinner will commence at 3 p.m. , and last until 8 p.m. Children under six will be served free of charge. The seventh and eighth grade students of St. Joseph's School have made the attractive posters which have been distributed around town. Beta Sigma Phi To Host Benefit Resplendent holiday creations as well as casual "at-home" designs will be shown Nov. 30 at the an nual card party and fashion show sponsored by three Exemplar chap ters of Bela Sigma Phi Sorority. Roseburg clothing stores palicipat ing in the event will he announced later. Keynoted to "M'Lady's Fash ion Spree," the Gold Room of the Umpqua Hotel will be transformed into a glittering cabaret for the soiree. Refreshments will be serv ed during the card play. Door prizes and table prizoB will he offered for bridge, pinochle, canasta and "500." Cards must be furnished by those making up ta bles. Initial plans were completed un dcr the general chairmanship of Mrs. Walter Brlttell. Assisting chairmen will be representatives of Xi Epsilon, Xi Tau and Xi Omi cron, with proceeds earmarked for a joint project of the three chap ters.
