LIVING ?Y THE CLOCK (or "clock watching") becomes a part of many people, whose lobs
require thot certain things be done at certain times. Five so called clock watchers make
up today's society feature page.
METER MAID (top left) Mrs. Edna Gillman, who has been on the job for the last three and
a h,dlf months for the City of Roseburg, -walks miles and miles a day keeping tabs on the
parking meters, a job which helps the city to keep parking limited to necessary regula
tions and gives more people a chance to park in the downtown shopping area.
SHIRLEY McLAUGHLIN, (top right) cashier at the new First National Bank of Roseburg,
opens the bank promptly at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Banking hours have changed Considerably
during the last few years, so that more service is rendered the customers.
MRS. CLAIR (ELEANOR) COE, center right, is shown punching' the time clock at Miller's
Department store. Mrs. Coe has been working in the department of ladies sportswear ot
Miller's for the last eight years. Her husband is with the Oregon Water Corp.
CHARLIE McCRAW, lower left, knows well that correct time is es-sential for the Southern
Pacific Company, for which he has been employed for the last eight years. He is a switch
man for the company. ,
THEL ALLEN, lower right, one of our most genial postmen, is right on the dot to pick up
mail for fast delivery. Allen has been with the U. S. Post Office department in Roseburg
since August 1948. He was with the Veterans Administration prior to joining the post
office department. ,
