FOX A group of Glendale Cub ScoutJ, their Den Mother!, tome other mothers ind several gueits went to Granta Pass recently to visit the Grants Pass (ire station and no roller skating at the Grants Pass rink. The youngsters were escorted through the Grants Pass (ire sta tion and shown the equipment, in cluding trucks, hoses, and uniforms. Those making the trip were Cubs. Ronnie Whaley. Kobby Main Speed Tracy, Mitchel Swanson, Steve Fox, Larry Taylor, Del Mc Purmid, Teddy Korthof, Larry Korthof. and Billy Ward. Visitors included Evelyn Kimbrough. Julie Taylor, Barnara Ham, inrisue Swanson, Betsy Tracy, Patricia Ward, Susie Korthof, and Terry ImoF McDiarmid. Adults accompanying the children included Mrs. James Korthof, Mrs. Bill Ham, and Mrs. Del McDiarmid, den mothers, and Mrs. Floyd Taylor and Mrs. Fed Ward. One of the dens met at the home of their den mother, Mrs. Del Mc Diarmid recently, and took a hike up to the Glendale city reservoir. Salemltt Visits Mrs. Art Fisher, former Azalea resident now living in Salem, is visiting with the Olio Worley fam ily at Azalea. She expects to re main about a week. Fisher is working in a service station at Sa lem. Mr. and Mrs. Ramon Rays have moved into the house which bord ers the Glendale high school prop erty. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Phillips and two daughters, have moved back to Glendale. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rogers of Glendale are the parents of a 7 Sound JO ounces girl, Connie Sue, orn Oct. 22 at the Josephine Gen eral Hospital in Grants Pass. The guest speaker at the Glen dale Southern Baptist Church Sun day, was the Rev. Everett North of Lebanon. He spoke both in the morning and the evening. The church has been without a pastor since late last summer. End To Epidemic Ills Seen In Next Decade TOKYO (AP) Except for flu and possibly smallpox, the major epidemic diseases may be wiped out in the coming decade, doctors were told at the U.S. Pacific Air Force Medical Conference Tues day. "Given peace, economic stabil ity and continued support of health programs in critical areas, we may indeed see the elimina tion of the major epidemic in fectious diseases," said a report by Col. Harold V. Ellingson, com mander of the Air Force Medical Service School, Gunter Air Force Base, Ala. He added, however, that the threat of deadly new strains of influenza virus may always exist and there is continuing danger of smallpox epidemics in the United Males and elsewhere.
