An antique bassinette holding a .baby doll and Hanked by pastel colored candles and a largo stork graced the table. A corsage made by Mrs. Rand was presented to Mrs. Thomason. The Roseburg Writers Club held its annual banquet on Oct. 8 at The Broiler. The program featured as main speaker Mrs. Virginia Da vis, president of the club, who spoke on the practical side of writing and the many aids avail able to help the aspiring writer in his career. Mrs. Hilda Peterson, secretary treasurer, presented statistics on book publication and today's com petition in the field , of writing which the successful writer must recognize. James R. Daugherty, vice pres ident and radio chairman, was .master of ceremonies. The club is resuming its month ly meetings which will feature a course in writing for members which will run for ten meetings. There are no special requirements for membership except a real and active interest in writing for pub lication. Interested persons are cordially invited to attend the next meeting which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Hutson Monroe auditorium at corner of Jackson and Mosher.
