0 .0 Judge Sentences' Drunken Drivers Delmar Raymond Miller, 40, of Bell, Calif., arrested by Slate Po lice over the weekend on a drunken driving charge, pleaded guilty in District Court Monday and Judge Warren Woodruff imposed a $150 fine or 10 days in jail. O'Neill Berniece Birdsell, 38, of 740 W. Ballf St., was given a five . day sentence and fine of $150 on a plea of guilty to drunken driving. The arrest was by a deputy sheriff. Dennis Lester Robbs, 29. Eugene, ! arrested by State Police for drunk en driving, was released by Judge woodrult on posting 300 bail. NSF Check Passer Nets Fine Or Jail Sentence Floyd E. Watkins. McMinnville. was fined $250 plus $5 costs or in . lieu of payment 50 days in the Douglas County jail, on a plea of i guilty to a charge of passing a "not sufficient fund" check, know ing that he did not have funds in the bank. Report Charges Auto Larceny Roseburg city police received a report of larceny from an automo bile at 8:20 this morning. A gasoline can that had been tied to a vehicle owned by John E. Markham of Roseburg was report ed stolen. Police report that another ve hicle owned by Markham had been rifled, but it was undetermined if anything had been taken. A car owned by Theodore Zogg of Glide was reported struck by a hit and run vehicle on Diamond Lake Blvd. at approximately 7:30 p.m. Monday, police also report. Muscular Dystrophy Group Plans Thanksgiving Drive Preparing for the "Mother's March" sometime during Thanks giving week, Douglas County lead ers of the Muscular Dystrophy As sociation have formed campaign plans. They point out that there are over 200,000 cases of muscular dys trophy in the Unjled States, more than twice the number of polio vic tims. ' Counties participating get one fourth of the sums collected, and the national association the rest. More than $3,000 was given to Ore gon Medical College alone from the national fund treasury last year, and other Oregon colleges also received grants. Woman Pleads Guilty On Drunkenness Count Police didn't have to go looking for Bessie Shuey, 42, of Little Riv er. She came into the Douglas County Court House, and a deputy sheriff arrested her for being drunk in a public place. The arrest was last Friday. Monday she pleaded guilty to the charge in District Court, and Judge Warren Woodruff imposed a fine of $15, plus $5 costs, or three days in jail.
