They are called divl-divi trees and are natural compasses since the wind that shapes them always blows in a southwesterly direction. Mrs. Wunsch Of Glendale Undergoes Recent Surgery By MRS. G. B. FOX Mrs. William Wunsch of Glen dale underwent further surgery at Emanuel Hospital in Portland last week. Word received here Indi cates that she will probably be able to return home in a few days time. Airman Visits A.3.C. Gale Austin, son of Mr. and ilrj. Glenn Austin of Glen dale. is visiting with his parents. He will be stationed at a new base in Maine following his leave. He has been stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wright have returned from separate trins last-1 ing a little more than a week. Wright went hunting while his wife visited with their son-in-law ana daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Bluings, ana lamuy in apringiteia. Msyfair Hotel Sold LOS ANGELES (AP)-The May fair Hotel at 1256 W. 7lh St. has been sold for more than S2 million by Western Hotels Co. of San Francisco. Purchasers of the 14-story, 325 room structure are Harold Sennit zer and Simon Director, Portland, Ore., operators of hotel properties in that state, In Arizona and in Oakland, Calif. During her . visit one of the Bil lings children, Mike, 7, fell and broke his arm while playing foot ball. ' Mr. and Irs. Del McDiarmid and family of Glendale recently spent several days at Diamond Lake fishing and skin diving. The weather was changeable and once, they were caught in a snow bliz zard while out on the lake fishing. . Mrs. Fred Beerli of Glendale drove to Oregon City recently for a medical check-up. She was ac companied by Mrs. Ralph Place of Glendalo who went on from there by bus to Dufur, Ore., to visit with her sister, Mrs. Zepha Woodlcy. Mrs. Beerli is to return to Oregon City this week and Mrs, Place will meet her there so that the two return home together. Tests Givtn Airs. Adria Blakcly of Grants Pass, former Glendale resident and mother of Don Blakely of Glen dale, entered Josephine Hospital in Grants , Pass last week for some medical tests. Mrs. Curtice Daniels of Glendale has been ill at her home with flu for several days but is. able to be up part ot tne time now. - Mr. and Mrs. Claude Patterson and the children of Grants Pass recently visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Patterson, of Glendale and with her mother, Mrs. Ed Harris, and her sister, Mrs. Marilyn Dickon, and daugh ter, also in Glendale. High Court Frees Convicted Slayer SALEM (AP)-The Oregon Su preme Court has reversed the second degree murder conviction of Lee Parker, who was sentenced to life for killing Robert Holloway with a blunt Instrument. The lime- covered body was found in a well near Vernonia. In overturning the verdict of the Multnomah County Circuit Court of Judge Frank J. Lonergan, the high court said there was insuf ficient evidence, and that improp er evidence was introduced at the trial. The slaying occurred three years ago. ine Dotiy was found near the property of Harold Keith, who also was indicted. He is serving 15 years on conviction of manslaugh ter. The decision, by Justice Gordon Sloan, frees Parker from the charge. Stimson Lumber Co. lost a 1100.- 000 damage suit against Laurence David Inc., makers of wood plas tics, i ne aumson uo. accused the defendant company of illegally using a formula developed by it. The Supreme Court, in a deci- cion by Justice pro tern Dal M. King, held that there was no evi dence to support the charge.
