Lost Hunters Found, Reported Lost Again LA GRANDE (AP)-Two news men and the young son of one of them tracked a deer in light snow off a sideroad in the Fiddler's Hill area of Ml. Emily recently. Before they got back to their homes, they had been lost, found and reported lost again. It was, said Charles Cusler to day, unnerving. Especially for the wives at home. Ciisler, of the La Grande Evening Observer stalf, and Grady Pan nell, managing editor of the same newspaper, set out with Pannell's 14-year-old son Robin. When Ihey left their car it was to have been for just a short run into the woods so. the boy, wear ing low-cut oxfords, went along. But the deer's tracks were fresh and attractive and the animal itself was elusive. Darkness came. Custer's compass got them on the right return course, but they soon decided to stop and build a fire. In the morning the men refueled the fire and left the boy. whose feet were frostbitten, while they hiked out to the road. They soon found a searcher who relayed back word that they were safe. However, the men got boots for the boy and hiked back in. It was farther than they had thought. By the time they had reached him and were back to their ear, dark ness had come again. And so had searchers, alerted by Mrs. Pan nell and Mrs. Custer who feared they were lost a second time. While they were gelling back to their car, off to the west in the Meacham area another deer hunt er was lost. He was Harvey Myers of McNary. He spent the night in the woods and was found Monday.
