Outside the South, Goldwater has
spoken in Arizona, California,
Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Okla
homa, Oregon, Indiana, New York,
Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Mis
souri. Although he is chairman of the
GOP Senatorial Campaign Com
mittee, Goldwater has conlincd
most of his politicking to the pres
idential campaign.

V. German Ambassador
Drowns In Congo River
LEOPOLDV1LLE, the Congo
(AP) West Germany's ambas
sador to the Congo, Hans Juergen
Soehring, disappeared and appar
ently drowned while swimming in
the Congo River Sunday.
Soehring went for a Sunday
outing to an island with his wife
and children and some friends.
That part of the river is consid
ered safe for bathing, although
elsewhere there are crocodiles
and a powerful current.
Pravda Reports Falling
Soviet Farm Production
MOSCOW (AP) Pravda today
reported falling production on
many of the Soviet Union's col
lective and slate farms. It ac
cused officials of being indiffer
ent to serious shortcomings.
Less than a year ago the Soviet
Union announced it would surpass
the United States in farm output
in the next few years. The Pravda
article indicated that the program
was running behind schedule. -
