Newport To Start New Armory Job STAYTON, Ore. (AP)-The fed eral government has allocated its 75 per cent share of the cost of a new armory at Newport, Rep. day. Walter Norblad, R-Ore., said to say. Residents want to settle the question once and for all. They'll have a chance to voice their pret ferences at a hearing today of the lowa Boundary Commission. Carter Lake's 1.400 acres once were on the Iowa side of the river. But along about 1890 the river flooded, cut a new channel and when the waters had receded Car ter Lake was on the wrong side ot the river. Nebraska has sought unsuccess want to remain in lowa. State Sen. Frank Hoxie of Shen andoah, chairman of the lowa Boundary Commission, says majority of Carter Lake residents want to remain in lowa. Any change would have to be approved by the legislatures of both lowa and Nebraska and then by an act of Congress. They returned home Sunday night after spending the day in Portland visiting their daughter, Carole. Mist Gayle Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harrie, has entered Lewis and Clark College in Portland as a freshman student. Gayle and her grandmother, Mrs. Edith Braley of Medford, have been in the east visiting relatives and friends, and Gayle went di rectly to school after her trip. Mrs. Harris met Mrs. Braley and Gayle in Portland. Mrs. Braley stopped by in Roseburg at the Harris home en route to her home in Medford.
