Mrs. Harry Whitfield and Elaine left Tuesday for Brookings and a short visit with the Bill Fallerts. Elkton students starting college at the L'nitersity of Oregon this week are: Lois Carnes. Mickey McCord and Bradley Loveless. Lmpqua Hebekah Lodge of Elk ton met recently for its first fall session with 11 members present. During the meeting the Charier was draped for Alfred Haines. A meeting of the executive board will precede the general meeting at 7 p.m. The new officers for the year are, Mrs. Leo Bunnell, presi dent; Mrs. George Gross, vice president; and Mrs. Robert C. Ha uler, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Donald Brown was appointed pro gram chairman, and Gene Kosas chi, publicity chairman. The program for the evening will open with the introduction of the Glide elementary and upper ele mentary teachers by the principal. Calvin Christensen. Introduction of the high school teachers by prin cipal John Thompson will follow. Members of the Glide School Board will be introduced by Supt. Bonnie Sneed and Marilyn Willey will be the first project leaders on the project, "Easier Home Laundering." They will attend the project leaders' meeting in Scoltsburg on Sept. 22. Rally Day The Elkton Christian Church is planning a Rally day and Home coming program Sunday morning, Sept. 25. with a potluck luncheon at noon following the morning serv ices. A Youth program is being planned for the same evening to begin at 7 p.m. Everyone is cor dially invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Dement and family of Colorado Springs, Colo, spent a week recently at the par ental Viva Dement home. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Albro are the proud parents of a baby girl born Sundav, Sept. 11 at Cottage Grove Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 10 ounces, and was named Tamala Rose. Fox, News-Review cor respondent. From Yreke Mr. and Mrs. Dutch Bailie of Glendale returned from Yreka, Calif., early this month. He is haul ing logs for his brother, Loren Bartle. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Lipscomb have moved into the former Lee Roark house near Glendale. Fred and Palmer Strand went lo Empire late last week. Fred Strand has purchased a lot there, and will be putting down a well and erecting extra rooms to go with the trailer house they have purchased. They have sold their home on Reuben Road in Glendale. Rev. Gerald Fox of Glendale and John Morford of Merlin repre sented the Merlin Baptist Com munity Church at the Baptist Men's meeting over the weekend at the State Baptist camp grounds at Arrah Wanna on the Mount Hood Loop. They won the bronze plaque for percentage of member ship coming from the greatest dis tance. The plaque, which will be enaraved with the church's name, will remain in its possession till next year when it will be present ed again to a winning church. Lem Phillips of the Grants Pass Baptist Church brought the morn ing message in the absence of the pastor and women of the church had charge of the remainder of the service. Stewarts In Move To Glendale Home Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stuart of Glen dale are living in the L. M. Shep herd home on the Glendale Road near the Cow Creek Bridge at the foot of Capitol Hill, according to Mrs. G. B. Fox. correspondent. The L. M. Shepherds are now in Livingstone, Mont., where he is logging for Doug Dollar, also a former Glendale resident. Dwane Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Miller of Glendale. is teaching the 81 h grade and is acting as junior high athletic di rector and assistant football coach at GoldBeach. Allen Sr., of Glendale, took their granddaugh ter, Becky, daughter of Leo, Jr., with them on a recent weekend to visit their son. Gene Allen and family at Coos Bay. The following weekend their son Stanley took Becky's sister. Martha Ann, for a visit with the Gene Aliens. A few days later. Stanley left for 1-ong-view, Texas, where he is attending Le Tourneau Technical Institute. Mrs. Hilma Stranne, one of Glen dale's Senior Citizens, who has been ill at her home for some time, is reported to be feeling much better.
