Eugene Monday to attend the fu
neral of Miss Naomi Scott's sister.

Eugene assisting in the care of

Jarry Lone, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Long of Kosehurg, has left
for McFarland, Calif., where he
will teach in the high school this
coming school year. Jerry received
his master's degree at Oregon
State College in June.
Mr. and Mrs. Barnie Gathard
and family of Klamath Kails spent
the weenend here as houseguests
of Mrs. Gathard's brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Art Bart-
lelt, and also visited her mother.
Mrs. Hoy Mitchell. The (Jathard
family formerly resided here.
Mr. and Mrs. John Moore of
Springfield, Mo., spent the week
end here as houseguests of Mr.
and Mm. Ed Miller. Mrs. Alnore
is a former music teacher of Shir
ley, daughter of the Millers. The
Moorcs bave been enjoying an ex
tensive tour of the western states
visiting relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ya.g.r have
returned lo their home in Rose
burg, following a two weeks va
cation trip at Noah Bay visiting
their son, Bruce Yeager Jr., who
is in charge of field operations for
commercial lisnenes witn Head
quarters in Seattle and who during
the summer has a crew and pa
trols the coast of Northern Wash
ington. The Yeagers were accom
named on their trip by their grand
son, Bruce Yeager III, who enjoy
ed the two weeks with his father
and who has sence returned to
Oakland, Calif., for the school
year. Bruce 111 had spent the last
two months here with his paternal
grandparents.

houseguests over the weekend the
latler's mother, Mrs. Alvin Wall,
and her granddaughter, Betty Jean
Tumlin, of Albany, and her daugh
ter, Mrs. Reuben Hughes, of Hal
sey. Mrs. Wall is a former resi
dent of this city.
Mrs. Jack Cook of Monterey,
Calif., is spending the week in
Roseburg visiting her mother, Mrs.
Kugene O'Brien. She is also here
to visit her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. George O'Brien, who are
here from Bradenton, Fla., and is
also visiting her brother, Jerry,
who is in the Army and who is
here for a few days from Ger
many, where he is stationed.
Dr. and Mrs. Don E. Baifey and
family have returned to their home
in Roseburg, following a trip to
Denver, Colo., where the former
attended the National Veterinary
Medical Association meeting. They
also went to Fort Collins, Colo., for
Dr. Bailey to attend his class re
union and visit on the campus at
Colorado State University, of
which he is an alumni. They re
turned home via Yellowstone Na
tional Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Daum, 669
W. Union St., have returned home,
following a five-day visit to the
coast. While there they attended
a reception in the Highland School
at Reedsport honoring Walter Mur
phy, grand warden of the Grand
Lodge of Oregon IOOF, and Ralph
Pau, grand marshall. A large
group attended and a fine pro
gram was presented. The honored
men are members of a degree
team from Riverside RVbekah
Ixidge No. 100, Gardiner, who have
received the honor of exemplifying
the Rebekab Degree when the In
ternational Assembly will take
place in Long Beach, Calif., in
September.

underwent major surgery at Mer
cy Hospital last week, left Wed
nesday by plane for England,
where she will teach American
children of the Air Force during
the coming school year. Last year
she taught in Tokyo, Japan, and
the preceding year at Okinawa.

formerly of Vienna, Austria, who
will take her with them to their
newly completed home at Lake

Mich., and her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs, Elmer Dol
len, and son, Gerald, of Minden,
Iowa, who left for their homes,
after slopping over at Banlf. The
visitors had been spending their va
cation here and enjoyed a number
of sight seeing trips in this area,
before making the trip to Western
Montana and to Canada.
