It stretches south to the Airport Rd. and NW Exchange Ave. To the west, it would include the Airport and several acres across Highway 99 freeway. The last steret to the north is Timberlake Ave. The darkened area on Newton Creek Rd. shows , the location of the pork itself. Members of the Newton Creek Civic Assn. today will start cir culating petitions to request for mation of a recreation district by the Douglas County Court. The association is hoping to form the district as a means of financ ing the establishment and main tenance of a recreational area and playground in the Newton Creek area. 250 N.me Required Petitions containing 250 names of bonafide voters must be filed with the County Court before boun daries can be set for such a dis trict. Then an election must be held for voters in the area set. Association President D. A. Clark says efforts will be made to put the issue on the Nov. 8 general election ballot. Work Six Month. A ccmmillee has been working on f stahlishmcnt of a park for about six months. It has negotiated for a 4'i-acre tract. The tract would cost S7.6O0. 11 is located just behind Klury Supply Co. A park and playground for fam ily use would serve about 3.500 persons according to Clark's esti mate. The esti mated cost of equipment is S2.4O0. Much of it, however, would be do nated. The association has already dis tributed a questionnaire asking peo ple if they would be willing to sup port such a park and recreation district. Clark says the results were strongly in favor of the district. Outlinging its reasons for pro-1 instead of being out on a busy moting the park in a prepared statement the committee said: "It is our belief that a 4'i-aere playground right in the middle of a rapidly growing residential area would vastly improve property val ues in this area. More important, we feel, is the fact that our chil dren in a community where traf fic volume is increasing every day, would have a place to play safely, street. It is the committee's belief that the playground would be well worth its cost through prevention of juvenile delinquency."
